Title: Re: Flavia Coupe 1.8 - another mystery
Post by: richardcooper on 18 March, 2026, 03:13:39 PM
Having reinstalled the engine, I have realised that the choke, (including the cable, knob and mechanism) is missing completely.
and I cannot fathom out where the dash control should be sited, the diagrams I have are vague.
does anyone please know where I might find the parts?  I can find a cable on www.pieces-fulvia, but I'm not sure this is suitable for the Flavia. (lalancia.com suggest they are the same).
regards  Richard

Is it a carb engine or fuel injection?

Hello Clarkey, it's a carburettor, single Solex.

mine was fuel injected, I think the choke was either automatic or you floored the throttle to set it. If you have the owners manual for the car it should show the position of the choke lever. The Appia ones under the steering column on the left.

I'll have a look at mine tomorrow, took the controls out a few weeks ago but can't recall without having a look how it all worked.
Also that bracket you posted about looks familiar

Attached should be a picture of the lever on my Flavia Sport. If yours is missing completely, I can probably find a spare for you as they were fitted to the Flaminia, Flavia and Fulvia. Regarding the cable the outer can be obtained from any good cycle shop. It is usually sold by the metre. The inner is a length of piano wire.

Hello Dave, sorry for late reply, I've been away from computer for a few days.
I have absolutely zero, no lever, no holding bracket, no cable, although you have advised re the cable.

Sorry about the delay as had grandchildren for half term. I can find you a lever but not the bracket if that is of any help. It might be worth getting in touch with Chris who is on the forum restoring a vignale and has purchased a PF coupe for spares. He should have all the parts you need.

Thanks Dave, I'll check with the restorer, but it's really the bracket that's the headache.
I have visited Chris, but his scrapper is also missing the mechanism.
Thanks again, Richard

Bonnet release mechanism I found on ebay just arrived.
Hoping to possibly use as choke - strange then to notice electrical connections, which suggest this might actually be the choke mechanism?
