This topic is a bit of fun.
If you've seen a Lancia around, let everyone know they've been spotted. One day you might even see yourself mentioned!
-
Hi all, after telling a friend of mine that I have never seen a Monte on the road, except at shows ect , he keeps seeing one being driven by a lady in Walthamstow, East London. He thinks it is Blue/ green in colour. Anyone know of this car, regards Paul D
-
Hi all, found a Red Integale near the bus garage in Bromley,( wouldn't give out name of road), very nice looking car , lucky person, cheers Paul.
-
I saw the new Ypsilon (in cream/ ivory) driving south on the M1 not too long ago - a rare site indeed over here. Just as I cought it up it pulled over onto the slip road  That probably saved me embarassment as I usually flash, wave and mouth the words Lancia as I go by, but given that I'm not in a Lancia on a daily basis the onlooking drivers usually think I'm quite mad!
Compared to the other small cars on our roads the Ypsilon certainly had more panache. Nice
-
Hi
There's a chap who now imports them as he likes the car so much! The website is at www.aarrtt.co.uk
Tempting..... :-)
-
Yes, tempting... but any spare cash I have must go towards the existing Lancia I already have, else it won't be getting anywhere near Turin this summer! Furthermore, by getting my Fulvia on the road maybe someone will post a note on this string after spotting me
Meanwhile I'll keep playing the lottery as that's the only way I'll get the ypsilon, 'grale, aurelia, flaminia.........
-
er, that post was me by the way - the site forum doesn't work too well with Safari
-
Red Integrale in Stirling. But aside from my LS turbo, Kappa Coupe and friends S2 Thema 16v SE, hardly ever see them here.
-
Talking of 'Grales, there's an immaculate Martini liveried one in Onslow Village/ Guildford. Very nice - a high days and holidays one me thinks. Club member?
-
again, that post was me. grrrr! Anyone else experiencing probs when browsing through Safari?
Do I have to go over to the dark side (PC/ internet explorer)?
-
As soon as I say there are none in Stirling , nice Dark blue S3 M plate Thema heading north on the M90. Maybe the one for sale in Febs Viva Lancia?
-
There is a K plate Thema 16v Turbo series 3 with a bit of a dent
within walking distance from my home in Tadworth Surrey.
Which needs a good home Email me for full details and photos
-
Hi Will. Tried mailing you about the Thema you have seen, but it wouldnt go through. Can you mail me back?
thanks
Lindsay
-
Another new Ypsilon sighting - a smart metallic claret example, Italian registered, that appeared down the road from me in Peckham of all places. It must have felt as out of place as that north american bird that washed up in Peckham having been blown 3000 miles across the Atlantic, but perhaps with rather more hope of getting home again!
-
Hi All,
A new Ypsilon in Ivory turns up from time to time & parks around the corner from me in Bedfordshire, it's on German plates.
Talking of importing Ypsilon, I imported a new Elefantino Rosso(Great Car) from rotterdam in 1999, it had left hand drive headlamps (not centre dipped as suggested by some) & it had a Kilometres Speedo.
While you can get around the speedo by having a MPH overlay made , I have an address for someone who will do so for about £90 & your speedo for a couple of weeks.
THERE IS NO WAY around the headlamp problems, unless you have a friendly MOT tester when it comes to MOT time, who will pass it with the relevant part taped off, strictly speaking even then it shouldn't pass as the regulations do not allow for this, it also forbids beam benders fitted long term.
So the only way to get it registered in UK is on the basis if you don't want the DVLA to tell you it doesn't comply, don't ask the question.
When I brought mine in I was told that the Certificate of Conformity was being changed from reading that the vehicle met European specifications, to that it was a LHD vehicle, fitted with LHD Headlamps & A Kilometre Speedo, if this is now the case, you can only hope that whoever deals with the paperwork at the DVLA doesn't understand Italian.Dutch, German. or whatever language the C of C is written in.
I would be interested to know how the companies who currently offer to import Ypsilon, Thesis, get around this problem, I have emailed some of them & asked specifically how they get around the headlamp problem so that the imports are legal, to date I have not received a reply from any of them.
Brian

Hello there Brian
Just to advise that there is  in fact a way to do this totally legally and the chaps at http://www.aarrtt.co.uk/Lancia.html have this sorted with proper RHD lights. No beam defelctors, no fiddles. They have paperwork to this effect. Ask for Mark Robbins - he will tell you all about it

I notice there's been no posts on this recently, so here's some to be going on with;
Integrale Evo, Dedra, Series 3 Thema, & Y10 Fila all in Swansea at the end of last year.
Series 2 Thema, & Italian Ypsilon in Leeds in the past 2 weeks.
There doesn't seem to be many Lancias of any description about on the roads at all. Have they all been scrapped?
I'm using a 1989 Thema Series 2 (bought off E-bay for £130) in May last year as an everday car (instead of the company Peugeot 307) & so far have clocked up over 34000 miles since.
The car has cost me around £1000 in total for this including £430 for a s/s exhaust, so it's been pretty good, still doing around 35mpg. :D
If anyone knows of a late, low mileage Series 3, hopefully a Turbo, I'd be interested in it.
Thanks,
Matt.
-
Black Integrale heading north near Oxford, yesterday at about 8am ish.
Nobody's spotted me in my Ypsilon on the M54 yet - any Lancisti in Shropshire?
Lee
-
I am hoping that you will all see me in my Aurelia B10 soon (once it is back in working order that is!)
-
White Beta Convertible in Lindfield near Haywards Heath West Sussex today.
-
Chippenham and surroundings seemed to be a local hotspot for Dedras, but I've not seen any others for a while. Spotted a Thema whilst out for a bike ride yesterday. Burgundy, I think, but I was in the shade with my sunglasses on and only spotted it by the grille. (If you were the driver, I was grinning having spotted a Lancia, not 'cos I'm a loony!)
-
I spotted a beautiful black Thema on an L-plate, parked in the centre of Carlisle today (27th July). It was a pleasure to such a stunning example and brought a huge smile to my face! :D
-
Spotted a series 3 Beta Coupe just South of Maccynleth today, I was in a (ssshhh) blue Laguna & flashed. Anyone on here???
LAWRENCE
-
Red Fulvia Coupe (S1 I think) in Tonbridge, Kent Monday this week.
-

Very nice Beta Berlina in gold, coming out of Cambridge at Trumpington.
-

-
Black Delta Evo with large rear wing in green white and red! Spotted this morning at 7.50am on Kitchen Lane, Essington, Wolverhampton/Walsall.
-
I couldn't quite believe my eyes this afternoon when I saw a very yellow newish Delta HF turning into the B&Q car park at about 2.15pm. I was in my Aygo as the Ypsilon was at home.
Does anyone know who's it is?
Lee
-
Haven't seen any Lancias for a while then came across a tidy black Beta VX Coupe on a B plate in the works carpark (Airbus Filton) last week, then saw a very nice looking dark blue Delta HPE turbo driving through Parkway near Bristol. It cheers you up to see there's still a few die hards Lancsti out there :D . Cheers Rob Macfarlane

White G Reg Thema spotted around 7am yesterday near the UWE in Bristol
-
rare to see any Lancias in use these days unless I am at home or at my "second home" (Auto Integrale" so quite a surprise to pass a Beta Spider on the M40 this afternoon while out in the k coupe
-
Possibly on way home from the Classic Motor Show at the NEC
Brian
-
On the way home from the Classic car show a Red 8 or 16V integrale spotted in the Shell garage at Alveston nr Bristol.
-
Passed a red Fulvia coupe on the M4 westbound before junction 10 at around 8.45pm on 22 November.
-
K reg. Verde York Integrale Evo spotted in car park "F" on the Crychen stage & a white RHD 16v on a private plate spotted in Brechfa forest. Anyone???
-
Not so much a spot - as it was me that was spotted!
Went on a jolly with Nissan on Friday, hooning the Pathfinder 4x4 round an off road course, then whizzing round the Kettering/Rockingham area in a Navara on test
When I got back, one of the Nissan guys came over and asked if the kappa was mine and said it was gorgeous
Not many within Lancia circles recognise the k coupe so I expressed some surprise. He told me he used to have a Gamma coupe and a Thema Turbo
-
White integrale (reg 1NRO) spotted driving along Scotland Road in Carlisle at 19:15, heading towards Carlisle city centre. It certainly made my Christmas :D
-
Stu,
That'd be Nik then, he lives in Carlisle.
-
Black Delta (standard non-Integrale) seen this afternoon zipping north along Tottenham Court Road – looking and sounding very crisp.
-
Beta HPE: Silver, with ‘B’ Registration seen in rainy Muswell Hill (north London) at noon today - looking absolutely lovely in all its ‘70s period style. I am probably not alone in seeing cars like this simply being used on the road as more cheering than a similar car in a line-up at an LMC event. Keep it up, whoever you are!
-
Nope, not seen one for months........so no Lancia spotted, aside from my lovely Kappa Coupe in the garage.....always worth a glance!
-
Light blue "C" plate Flavia seen parked up in Liverpool near my office.
Seen it there a few times now. And not always in the same parking space!
Guy

gordano services and the M5 northbound are a haven for the lancia spotters of the club after spotting an augusta there two weeks ago, yesterday i spotted an aprillia...................unbelievable i hear you say how can so many lancias be spotted in the same service station.wow. well the answer is its all thanks to chugga doing his bit for the lancia spotters in the club and towing them from down south back to sunny north wales.he he he.
-
Never knew old Lancias migrated to North Wales ... and roosted down south ... ;)
-
its certainly an interesting concept dont you think

Spotted on Sunday 18th February was a stunning Thema in dark blue, registration M949 BLR, parked in the car park of the King Malcolm Hotel in Dunfermline. It brightened up the day after driving from Elgin to Rosyth in a boring Citroen Picasso hire car :D
-

White Beta Coupe traveling West on the A272 Scaynes Hill near Haywards Heath Mid-Sussex. Wednesday 28th Feb am.
-
Sunday 4th March about 5.40pm. White Beta Spider reg TEG ****, heading south towards Pelsall at the junction with the A5, near Cannock.
Lee
-
About three miles from me then, Lee, on that basis, and I still don't know the car...
-
I thought it might have been you for a moment Chris!
-
Saw someone (with an LMC badge in the Windscreen!) coming out the the Newport Tunnel on the M4 going West this morning around 7:30am !
I was amazed (good effort since it was raining!). Trouble is I'm not sure of the car model :-[ - I would guess late 70's age - it had a VX on the grille and four headlights ... dunno the reg either :-[ and dbl :-[ ...
Anyone on here ? (My apologies but Monday AM on the M4 in S.Wales in the rain is tricky at the best of times!)
Steve
-
Trouble is I'm not sure of the car model :-[ - I would guess late 70's age - it had a VX on the grille and four headlights ... dunno the reg either :-[ and dbl :-[ ...
Going to be a Beta Coupe Volumex, or maybe even a Beta HPE (3 door estate car like a Scimitar GTE) Volumex then
-
Yep that sounds good ... I only got to see the front so couldn't see the side.
-
I saw my Gamma in Worksop on Sat/Sun and again in Watford Gap services on Sunday
'the colonel'
-
Persuming u were not actually very drunk at that time ... ? ;)
-
I may have been It's damned difficult to tell these days
'the colonel'
-
Top response Colonel. Howled with laughter - I shall go to bed happy... ;D
-
I may have seen it before, but today (10 March) I spotted a black Thema (reg L83 EDP) parked at the side of the road on Warwick Road in Carlisle :)
-
Seen on Saturday 10 March early afternoon turning north from Old Street to Goswell Road, central London – a Beta Saloon, 2000ES with registration number FJD 17V. This was on a trailer and covered with dust and blinking into the daylight after being underground for years, but looking absolutely lovely and full of promise on its way to a new home in Wiltshire in the care of new owner Andy Collins.

-
Not technically on the road, but... Cafe Roma (Gatwick Airport Sth Term) life size picture of
a Ser. I Fulvia.
Well you have to understand it was 04:30 on a sunday
and of course I was very very drunk
-
If you tell me you're also a pilot I'll never fly again !!!!!
Which reminds me a a story I should stick on the warby ....
-
No Geoff has a Palm Pilot! that's also drunk! ;D
-
Actually I have a MDA Compact III which comes with sat nav and thinks (like me) that Gatwick is
in Dorset I think it may be slightly intocksi/// intaxi/// Intoxicated.
'the colonel'
of course I WAS only very slightly drunk
-
Dear Steve,
or can I call you spare,
I was a pilot until they stopped the duty free sales on board, damned if I'm going to pay
full price and then they had the nerve to say I couldn't smoke a cuban in the cockpit
I admit I pranged a couple of kites, apparently these autopilot jobies don't do landings,
of course the final straw was when they gave me a tottie as a co-pilot,
she wouldn't even make the coffee. What's the world coming too. I ask you.
'the colonel'
of course I was very very drunk
-
Spotted today in Duddingston Road, Edinburgh, Series 3 Thema. K reg & looking in pretty good condition.
Call me if it's for sale!!

Lots of Lancias spotted between 11th and 15th March, all in Germany. Much to my surprise, a UK registered integrale on a J-plate in green parked by Cologne Hauptbahnhof!
-
I spotted an F-reg red Integrale parked just south of Bristol on the A37 yesterday morning. Looked in nice nick!
I can't remember the last time I saw a Lancia on the road other than going to or returning from club events.
-
Red Evo going toward Cirencester today about 1pm
-
lancia gamma seen LOOK http://www.flickr.com/photos/knfsports/

-
Sunday 1st April (no not an April Fool) saw 1 Stratos, 6 Integrales, 1 Fulvia Saloon,
1 Fulvia coupe, 1 vignale, 1 Gamma and 1 other (Sorry Mike I know it's a Lancia but

1 Hyena.
'the colonel'
of course I was very very drunk
-
Funny you say that Geoff, I saw the same thing! ;D
-
Must have been the bacon & egg roll & my cup of tea, seem to work better than carrots, as I also see a Kappa Coupe for sale (£2600!) an Appia Zagato (Bob & Vivien Seaney) , Fulvia Zagato (Ann & Chris Moorey) & a New (no, not that new) Delta HPE 1.8 3 door (Simon Spearman-Oxx).
Nice to see everyone, boy, wasn't it packed!
Brian Hilton 8)
-
... as well as another B20 2-door (not Mikes), the Thema 8.32 and Chris Gawnes B24 dhc
-
Now come on, be fair, I remembered as many as I could
you have to remember....
I was very, very, drunk

Lancia Flavia Sedan seen yesterday afternoon on M25 southbound just after the M3 junction.
It was travelling at about 60 mph and achieveing amazing mpg (principally because it was on the back of an AA flatbed) :(
-
In France last week, near Paris. Very few sightings. New Y, S3 Thema in vivid met green, S2 Dedra and a Phedra. Red Delta HF - I think - on an H plate on the M25. Phedra hard to get excited by....
-
dutch registered lambda tourer on the back of a monaco registered recovery truck heading north in Montelimar on Thursday.Pulled into the services where I was parked. I missed the driver of the truck and subsequently couldn't catch it on the motorway making it by some stretch the fastest lambda currently on the road i think...
-
Hope you bought some nougat then William! If you're ever in 53 give me a ring......
Rodders
-
only the sort encased in a bar of delicious toblerone I'm afraid..
Saw the lambda whilst heading back from Gruissan (nr Narbonne) to an overnight stop in Beaujolais (chenas). We live in northern (flemish) belgium.
53? I can only relate to French departments in terms of wine; is this not just (n)west of the Loire (above le Mans)?
-
Spot on my friend - about 30 km west of Le Mans in fact.....
Rodders
-
As another writer correctly pointed out, fortune smiled on me and I could combine my hobby with work (torturing of political prisoners).
However, one thing led to another and Mrs Scarpia, the smaller Scarpias and I relocated to belgium 12 years ago...but what brings an otherwise (apparently) rational man to the fields of France though?
-
Britanny Ferries, usually.
But seriously....
We've been here around seven years and, ironically, are just in the throes of moving back to Blairsville as I'm buying a UK business that can't easily be relocated.
I do think, though, that the torturing of political prisoners is SO important in the ever-changing world of the EU. Doubtless those famous euro-twins (Norm and Grant) are providing you with adequate assistance in your chosen field.
Rational, moi?
-
I thought I detected the pangs for good old blighty with the reference to making a "curry" for Mrs Rodders some weeks ago.
As there is little prospect that they would allow me back in (and there are no indian take aways in belgium) I have become quite an adept indian cook in recent years. My Chicken Khara Masala and Jal Frezi are really not bad...this makes us almost entirely self sufficient of course.
-
At the car-park for the Vintage Sports-Car Club race meeting on 21 April at Silverstone. Seen through the windscreen of my Fulvia Sport S1 (hybrid): red Fulvia Coupe 1.3 S1, cream Fulvia Sport 1.3 S2, blue Fulvia Sport 1.6 S2 and two Lambdas, one black and the other green. Also, three Aurelia B20s were thought to be lurking in the distance. Lots of other exotic cars were there, but Lancia seemed to be very well represented. And so they should be!
-
Seen through my rear screen 1 X 1600 Fulvia and then believe it or not 3 Integrales and a very nice
Beta Volumex. Oh and I almost forgot 11 Gamma's
and it was in Welsh Wales
'the colonel
of course I was very very drunk

It's condition is unbelievable! Expect to see it over the summer at various Beta 35 celebrations.

Cream & Maroon Ypsilon traveling north on A199 just south of Edinburgh at 1615h today. First one seen on the road in ages.
-
Burgundy Fulvia with yellow/cream wheels seen in Mansfield Woodhouse this morning.
-

Dark blue Delta (non-Integrale) in Aldershot this afternoon about 5.30.
-
Loz,
Try JP I think he has the info you need
'the colonel'
-
Yeah well, be fair, he's a slow reader........
-
Seen Harvey in his Cream Ypsilon (HF05) on M4 this evening smile man your driving a Lancia! Also a Red Evo 1 with go faster martini stripes on A33 towards Reading.
-
I was on my way to the Surrey meeting. If I wasn't grinning it was probably because I realised that I had no idea of where I was going and had left my map at home. ::)
It's a great pub to meet at but I reckon you'd need SatNav if not a local. Three Lancias in the car park but a good smattering of other Italian cars. Nice to catch up with people I hadn't seen for a while, and to meet more people I only knew by userid!
-
Was great to have you at the Surrey meet Harvey. It was a good crowd. Shame that there were so few Lancias this time, but I'll drag the fulvia out as soon as I replace the mirror, the wiring loom, the wiper switch.... oh dear :-[
-
Seen a Silver Fulvia on my way home on M4!
-
Tim you must be a magnet ... I never get to see any ... :(
-
No you drive with your eyes closed! ;D
-
better than crossed (like Geoff) !
-
Geoff see's one Lancia on the road he thinks he has seen 3!
-
Giallo Evo seen on M4 this afternoon...
-
Hardly surprising you spot a lot of Lancias on the M4, especially Integrales as many will be visiting/leaving Auto Integrale
-
Yea I guessed that Trevor, still nice to see from time to time.
-
Red integrale (early 8V I think) spotted heading northbound on the M74 near Lockerbie at 1750 today (27 May).
-
Yellow integrale evo,at trent bridge/A52 nottingham today, didn't get to see the reg but it looked a good one...
-
Spotted a red Beta coupe VX parked, and looking rather sad, by Blazes at Shaddongate in Carlisle. It is a restoration project and looks like it may have been there for some time.
-
saw a Giallo on A4 9/6/07...admittedly I was going to AI too!
-
Metallic blue Montecarlo, with Evo style headlamps on the A244 in Hersham going towards Weybridge at lunchtime, would have waved but was in my wife's Audi!
-
Cream-coloured Ypsilon, fairly recent UK plates, in Bath, and later on, a silver, earlier Ypsilon on European (maybe Italian?) plates, driving south into Bath. Typically, I was in my Punto, not my Y10...
Tim
-
The cream Ypsilon would be Harvey ...
-
I'm guessing mine's the only one of that colour in Bath every day... :)
I saw a dark blue Dedra just SW of Bath recently but no LMC stickers and no response when I waved... not many people outside of the club would recognise the modern Lancias, methinks.
-
Spotted a yellow Integrale southbound on the A404 at about 7:45 this morning.
Rhys
-
Dark blue H plate Delta 1.3 (Brio?) driving into Birmingham this morning on the A34 between Great Barr and Perry Barr, circa 8.40 this morning. Not known to me. Anyone?
-
Lancia spotting in The Hague last weekend. I managed almost a full set of current and recent models but the Thesis remains elusive (at least, outside Italy...)
-
Plenty of Thesis in and around Le Mans this last week end, one even recognised the Dilambda and waved! Only British Lancia I spotted was a red F reg Delta (probably an quattro but just too far away for me to be sure).
-
Also at Le Mans a UK L-registered Fulvia coupe S2 in silver, left-hand drive and low headlamps. It was previously an Italian-registered car and still had its Italian front number plate behind the British one.
I plan to take my HF next year, but given this year's Peugeot onslaught I thought it more fitting to take my D-reg 205 GTI 1.9 this time.
John Simister
-
John, Peugeot will win next year or at worse the year after so, come bring the HF to Classic Le Mans next year - that's where I think my money will be spent.
-
I have been to Le Mans a few times now and after getting my HF I did think it would be really nice to go down there in it. I have considered the Le Mans Classic and there are some plus points around how crowded it can get plus many of the older cars are actually more exciting.
If anyone is considering taking their car next year I'd be interested in possibly getting something together.
Rhys

On my way home from the Festival of Speed today ;D( bit like Glastonbury with cars, no sex, drugs or music!) ::) on the A283 heading south towards Petworth, a Thema 8.32, Brown? dark colour anyway.

Seen this afternoon in the rain at Brands Hatch - a Fulvia 1600 HF being driven by Jai Sharma. Jai started the HSCC 70s Roadsports race 16th on the grid of 32 and finished 9th, way ahead of his class rivals. This included overtaking a Lotus Europa on the inside at Paddock Hill Bend and making it stick – wonderful! Rainy Saturdays in June should always be like this.
Colin
-
Out and about in the Dilambda on Sunday evening and spotted a beautiful red Integrale at Crowborough East Sussex.
-
Metallic red Series 1 Kappa Coupe 3.0V6 with white leather interior near Inverurie, Scotland. UK plates.
-
11:30am yesterday at Upton Lovell on the A36 south of Warminster - a dark blue Stratos. Alas, you were stuck in a queue of cars :( so I didn't get to catch the registration, nor spot the car in time to wave like a maniac.
-
Saw a white Dedra in a car sales yard in Costa blanca last month for 3999 euros got it for 1500, needs the aircon filled and a radio and the back door wont lock but................
I HAVE GOT A LANCIA HA HA HA !!! ;D ;D
Funny how little things make me laugh a lot

On my way home from the Festival of Speed today ;D( bit like Glastonbury with cars, no sex, drugs or music!) ::) on the A283 heading south towards Petworth, a Thema 8.32, Brown? dark colour anyway.

Yesterday on the way to mallory Park a blue Beta coupe and at Mallory 2 red Fulvia coupes and 5 Lambdas. Unfortunetley my Lambda blew its head gasket on the way and had to be recovered home.

bad luck. Hope there no too much damage.I don't imagine its a silver lining but i guess you've read the current postings on head gaskets in the Lambada section by now.

Lovely silver Ypsilon 2 parked in Bath. I think the Italian owner was nonplussed as to why I was grinning so widely whilst looking at his car in passing... ;D

Hi guys, hope you can help an Alfa owner! I spotted a nice Flavia Saloon in Tuscany when on holiday and can't identify it (the frontal treatment is different to that in the website's model list) and hope someone could tell me exactly what it is. I'll email a copy of the picture (its a good shot!) if someone sends me an address. As a non-member, I can't see how to send it to the club or post it here - maybe you can help. Thanks. Alan Laird.
-
Perhaps it was a Zagato or Pininfarina Flavia?
Try a Google image search to see which one it was and let us know as well

Red Delta (2wd) spotted heading north on the A36 near Warminster this morning (25th). I didn't get to see if it was a 1.3, GTie or an HFie. "E" plate and looked in lovely condition. It certainly stood out amongst the stream of grey and dark coloured cars around it!

You never know, it might have been Chris (fensaddler), out for a run to dry the new paint!

Well, not exactly ‘seen on the road’, but seen on UK TV this evening, In a BBC4 programme ‘Tintin and Me’ there was a telling portrait of Georges Remi, better known as Herge. This was based mostly on interviews with him in 1970 and included a film clip of him driving a car through Brussels – the wooded Lancia badged steering wheel and dash looking oh so Flavia 2000. Wonderful!

Lovely dark green open Lambda on the old A41 at Bourne End, near Hemel Hempstead, early this evening (Sun 16th). Its owner waved because I was in my Fulvia HF. What are the chances of a random Lambda/Fulvia encounter like this happening? I was on cloud nine.
John Simister
-
John,
That would have been Mike Guest’s lovely Lambda on its way home after meeting up with about 99 other Lancias in the Piazza in Covent Garden to celebrate 100 years of Lancia in the UK. You may remember this was an event I emailed you about ages ago, but unfortunately you couldn’t attend. Lots of lovely cars there, from 1910 through to 2007, including all the variants of Fulvias – a real pity that you missed it. Cloud 9? Yes.
Colin.
-
Yes, I'd have loved to have gone to Covent Garden but was on my way back from Krakow today, of all places. Why Krakow? It's near the Fiat Panda/500/Seicento plant at Tychy, which I was visiting. A fascinating place, the biggest car factory in Eastern Europe and the highest in production quality of all the Fiat plants, apparently. Krakow is intriguing, too, and we had dinner in a salt mine.
I didn't see a single Lancia of any age in Poland, sadly, but plenty of old Fiat-based cars plus a Syrena which FSM (which has grown by circuitous means into the current Fiat Auto Poland operation) used to build. having not driven my Fulvia for a whole week I needed to give it an airing, so I got home and out of the garage it came.
Glad the Piazza event was a success. I'd have been there if I could.
John

Saw a dark integrale (Evo) westbound on the M4 around junction 14 whilst on my way to covent garden and also a white beta coupe heading into london (owner wasn't one of the 100 - benefit of LHD is you can chat in a queue!)

White integrale reg G204RRM spotted in Carlisle at 1030 on 22nd September.

Firstly apologies for my lack of knowledge about older Lancias but I caught a quick look at what I think was a blue Dilambda going in to a classic car show at Blarney Castle on Thursday 20th.
Rhys
-
Hi Rhys, I'm all agog! with just a handful of Dilambda known to exist I'd love to know more. Any chance of tracking it down?
What made you think that it was a Dilambda?
Robin.
-
Kappa seen entering M4 at Jc18 yesterday (22nd September), I was in red 8v Integrale coming back from Rally Day ay Castle Combe.
LAWRENCE
-
Robin,
Having looked on the internet at some images of older Lancia models the Dilambda lookes like the best fit, what I saw was a 2 door convertible with the same raked back radiator. The car was a mid blue colour with black wings, RHD and there was a gent driving and a female passenger.
I have searched on the internet to see if I can find out what the event was but I have been unable to come up with anything. The cars were arriving at Blarney House next to Blarney Castle at around lunch time on the 20th.
Rhys
-
Rhys,
Thanks for your efforts to identify the car you saw. Certainly sounds as though it is an early 30s Lancia, Dilambda or Astura.
Can you remember the headlights? If it was a Dilambda they shoud be shield shaped, the only Lancia model ever fitted with them. Having said that the 'Steady' Barker Dilambda was fitted with round ones from new!
Robin.
-
Robin,
When Ron ‘Steady’ Barker was contemplating fitting non-original headlamps, it must have the time he referred to “being on the horns of a dilambda”!
Colin
-
Groan!! ;D ;D
-
on the contrary, truly excellent. Just wish I'd said it.
-
Could the mystery car be a Augusta, March bodied maybe? Roger.
-

Colin
Nice one Colin but no, sorry, different car, recounting a trip across France in a Dilambda and titled On the Horns of a Dilambda. Another reprint for Viva Lancia! perhaps?.
Steady's Dilambda has an English James Young saloon body and I believe was fitted with round headlights from new. Its currently being rebuilt to an incredibly high standard by Keith Bowley at Ashton Keynes Vintage Restorations. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Robin.
-
don t worry Scarpia, you will
-
Robin,
From what I remember the lights were round, however I was more interested by the badge on the front as it was the first time I had seen one of the older badges and as such was quite excited by the fact.

Rhys
Rhys,
That is my Dilambda.
Worth noting though that when ordered from Lancia you could specify the coach builder who's body you wanted fitted to your car, so there are scarcely two the same. Mine is a series 2 so has the sloping radiator grill and blade front bumper. An Astura is another possibility although everything was scaled down in size for that model.
Hope that you can find out more as another Dilambda (or indeed Astura) would be a great find.
Robin.

Oooh, Oohh, spotted a first generation Ypsilon (silver) along Ladymead in Guildford yesterday (Sunday) at 4:15 cutting up the car infront of me. If that was you: 1) Cheeky manouvre, but 2) The car looked good so you're forgiven ;o)
-
At Silverstone on Saturday afternoon:
A green Aurelia B20 being driven by Chris Gawne, looking absolutely lovely with the rear-end gently drifting out through Copse, but sadly outperformed by the much younger disc-braked sports cars in this race. And later a fantastic duel between Jai Sharma’s red Fulvia 1600 HF and Jason Kennedy in a red Beta Coupe with the lead changing at alternate corners – the final result being Jai finishing just ahead of Jason after a close run in through Luffield. Meanwhile Louise Kennedy’s Fulvia Zagato 1.3 was fighting it out with an Alfa 2000 GTV having managed to get past it at least once.
All wonderful stuff in glorious weather - mind you, the results would have been better for Lancia if it had been wet! Yet again I was left with the feeling that it is my good fortune to see such lovely cars used with real purpose – thanks Louise, Jason, Chris and Jai. More next year please.

Rhys.
Further to your sighting, Morris Parry has brought to my notice an item in the Finds and Discoveries section of The Automobile for November and I wonder if it could be the same car.
The car pictured is a 1932 Astura in what looks like pale blue and with a body style very similar to my Dilambda. It belongs to John and Jeanne Wilkinson who live in County Carlow.
Is this anywhere near where you made your sighting?
I'm trying to get in contact with the Wilkinsons.

Spotted today (29 October) at 1500 at the Smithfield roundabout near Egremont in Cumbria, a white integrale (H940 OTG).
-
Robin,
This could be the car, Carlow itself is about 120 miles from Blarney and the driver was a man with a female sat next to him so you could be on the right track.
I did e-mail Blarney Castle but they have not responded.

Thanks Rhys, I'll post if I make contact.

Spotted today at 1235 on the A597 heading towards Harrington near Workington, a black integrale J30 ACM. It looked like it had been converted to RHD. I did flash my lights, but I suspect the driver was not too familiar with the Lybra!
-
Spotted (again) integrale H940 OTG today at 1435. Not so much on the road but, to my surprise, parked behind my Lybra in the Sellafield training centre car park. Provided the perfect end to an otherwise boring day ;D

A cream coloured Ypsilon (current model) on French registered 06 department number plates, in Hersham/Walton-on-Thames regularly spotted.

Grey/ Black Kappa behind me between Woking and Guildford at a quarter past eight this morning. Presumed local as it turned off onto a minor road avoiding Guildford (which is a wise move first thing in the morning). Anyone we know?
-
Maybe the ghost of Harry Manning returning for Christmas
-
Driving home for Christmas (Chris Rea) from Oxford in my loving Fiat Punto Multijet van, North bound M40 at approx 12.30pm and drove by a red Lancia Delta. I was going too fast to recognise the model, I gave a little peep but no-one was home.
Happy Christmas all

Well, having just been to Paris for a short break I saw quite a few : mostly ypsilon (I and II) and one very old Delta ! I also managed to see some new fiat 500s (that didn't, as yet, have any dents). The most popular "old" car seemed to be the mini with the chrome bumpers - loads of those going strong.
Best seasonal wishes to all

Red Integrale Evo heading west on Edinburgh City Bypass on Friday 11th Jan at around 15.00h.
Very jealous as I cannot get mine to start today due to useless Laserline alarm/immobiliser which won't disarm! >:(
-
I spotted the same black Thesis at Walton bridge, turning right towards Weybridge at 1pm today, it must be local.

Paul Baker has been waiting for his new Thesis and the number certainly sounds like a Lancia enthusiast, but as far as I'm aware that's not his neck of the woods, interesting. ???

Right, as ever ;D
Brian

Ooh, can't quite resist lurching off-topic.... I'd agree on the small "i" if following "Delta" as the name and integrale as a sort of qualifier, but if we're using "Integrale" as the name then surely a capital letter is best...? Don't reply here: start a new topic titled "Semantics / language lessons" :P

If we're talking semantics, then I'll post here: i Think It shOuld be A capitol I or a small i depending
on whether your using a small I or a large i .

Saw a Gold (i think) Ypsilon this morning on the A404 Northbound at about 07:30 (hence not sure about colour).
It had Polish plates so I guess it is not someone on the forum.

Perhaps it was someone who works for Autoglym! Sorry

Bit of a reverse one, but I was spotted on the M5 by Worcester by Mark Robbins who sold my Ypsilon to me in 2006. We stopped at the services for a coffee and chat. A pleasant surprise!

Two in one week, Lancia's are getting common! First, I saw a yellow Integrale Evo on the M5 near West Brom on Sunday, about 3pm. Today I spotted a Dutch registered, red Dedra heading east on the A5 near Shrewsbury.
No-one's spotted me in the Fulvia yet, but I did get a wave from a chap in a Ferrari 348 yesterday ;D
Lee

I did wave you goodbye. Does that count?
-
Peter, you think I had time to look in the mirror, I was trying to master the clutch and column change for a good few miles!

My apologies for the small number, but I was too busy driving the car on our roads in South Africa.
I've also been 'arguing in my spare time' with my computer, and have a 2 page article of driving impressions in the works.
Do you think this too long for the forum, or can it wait until the next V-L?

Great photos Guy,
Can now see a bit more detail, particularily the interior & underbonnet shots, must say it does look a bit of a big beast compared to the Monte; as for the article, go for it I can't see any of us complaining ;D and why not send it to Jack for "Viva Lancia" so that no one gets left out.

We just returned from a skiing holiday in Wolkenstein (Val Garda) in the Italian dolomites and there was an Isle of Man registered red Integrale parked all week in the hotel car park next door. Fulvia S1 (I think) spotted travelling south on the A51 (Rugeley road) into Lichfield at about 5.45 today. Driver wearing what looked like a very rakish leather cowboy hat. I was in my Delta, and waved, and think I got a belated hoot of recognition as he passed. Someone returning from the CLS Curborough event?
-
Strangly no Fulvias participated, although the full house included Gamma, Appia, all varieties of integrale, a couple of nice Porsche a race prepared Alfa 75 and Suburu Imprezza. Everyone had at least four sessions and the weather was perfect. The instructer was exhausted come six oclock. Great full afternoon for around £50.

Whereas, at the VSCC Silverstone race-day yesterday in glorious sunshine there were - at least: three Fulvia Zagatos, one S1 coupe, two Aurelia B20s, two Lambdas and an Integrale. And lots of other fine cars too.

Caught the full set of kappa body types this morning on the M4. A beige/gold kappa station wagon overtook my kappa coupe while I was towing my kappa saloon race car. A sheet 35feet x 12 feet would have instantaneously covered all three models

But did they wave?
-
tbh I didn't notice it until it had passed, so it may well have done and thought I was being the miserable so-and-so for not responding
I was talking to my son (sitting in the back) so didn't pay further attention at first other than a line of cars was overatking
-
A good selection of Ypsilons (both series), New (or is now that old) Deltas and Dedras - always suprises me to see them bashed up !
Also a musa, lybra, a very faded delta HF turbo but the pride had to go to a fulvia spotted parked on a main street ... (it too was a bit bashed).
Fuel prices seems around 1.44EUR for diesel :(

Black Delta Integrale Evo J265WTF - seen in Muswell Hill (north London) early this afternoon. It looked great and it prompted me again to think how well-designed cars seem to look better and better as the years go by.

-
Spotted a red 2WD Delta parked in a factory car park on the Worcester Road in Kidderminster this evening. The strange thing was it was on an L-plate ???
Lee
-
Haven't seen any for ages, then 3 integrale evos in two days!
One red one heading north on the A90 near Forfar on Friday around 08.30h.
Then a yellow one in East Linton on the Saturday morning.
Finally a black one heading east on the A1 on the Saturday around 12.30h.
Can't remember the last time I saw a Thema though. :(
-
Metallic red Evo 1 (J reg) by the Roberts bakery in Northwich (A556?) this morning, at about 10am.
-
Amazingly I was overtaken by Harvey this morniing in his Ypsilon ....
-
You can get him back on the Giro...!
-
you must have going slowly as Harvey is saving petrol, he he

Amazingly I was overtaken by Harvey this morniing in his Ypsilon ....
it would have been more impressive if you hadn't been walking at the time.....
-
Another red 2WD Delta, this time spotted heading north on Robertson Way (A5112) in Shrewsbury at 1pm yesterday. It was an H Reg 1300LX, looked pretty solid and well used. I was too amazed to note the reg, but I think it was a London one. I'll be watching out at the same time next week!
-
A French-registered dark green Dedra 1.8ie in Bath last night. A little battle-scarred, so I'm guessing it lives an urban life. :)
-
...and at 08:45 this morning, a Delta LX pulled out ahead of me on the A4 at Corsham. It was the lovely pale blue metallic, on a G plate. Beeped, waved, and was acknowledged by the driver! Though whether he knew why I was waving is a different matter. :)
-
...and at 16:30(ish) on Friday, a metallic blue/green Dedra heading north on the Warminster by-pass. I had time to flash, but don't think the driver registered. Wow! They're coming out of the garages for the summer!! 2 Lancias in one day.
-
18:30 on Monday, a sea-green Y10 LX selectronic, parked in the Bath Sainsbury's car park. In near-immaculate condition except for a small rust bubble on the passenger rear wheel arch. I spoke to the driver - an older lady who declared the car has never given her trouble, and she expects it to out-last her!
-
Seen in a local pub carpark (whilst I was in the integrale) a Fulvia 1.6HF looking lovely ... LPD***K ... anyone ?
-
Some lovely Lancias, an Appia, Aurelias (B24 S and B20) seen at Brooklands Double Twelve event today and will be there on Sunday taking part in the proceedings.
-
Wish I could afford the entry
-
I agree, a bit steep, it is a shame these events are not more reasonably priced.
-
Something to do with 'The right crowd and no crowding'. The original by-word of Brooklands.
-
can't be too careful you know.... :D
-
Ouch! BTW. How could Spain lose with Alonso and Senna on side. Didnt recognise any of the opposition though.
-
Black (matt?) Aurelia yesterday morning on the M25 (or it might have been the M40.... I cannot remember now as I drove on 5 different motorways TWICE yesterday!!!). Didn't get the plate, but she cut a fine figure against the hum drum metal around her (including me in a Ford Ka :-[)
-
black Aprilia proceeding at high speed down the fast lane of the motorway towards Antwerp yesterday.Driver had a demonic grin on his face and was flashing "moderns" to move over...........Hold on, that was me..... ;D
-
Two Fulvias at Brands Hatch Autoglym Historic meet yesterday - a lime green 1.3 and a dark blue 1.6 - both racing, and looking good on track, and they would have gone home by road so I guess this qualifies for this thread.
-
Typical Lancia cars seen on the road at Brooklands... probably not, but quality cars all the same!
-
Flavia Coupe spotted in Shifnal, Shrophire this morning at 11.15. Reg PZT 555. Not what I expected to see on the way back from my accountants. I didn't flash as I was in the van and this sort of behaviour normally illicits a negative reaction.
Lee
-
Saw a Yellow Delta HF Integrale EvO 2 I think. This was in Southampton at the roundabout at the top of the avenue. Didnt catch the reg. I was dirving a Thema at the time, which was loaned to me.
Have my Delta back now though :)
Bully.
-
Very smart white Montecarlo (series 2?) on the A42 this afternoon... looked low and purposeful 8)
-
Red Thesis on San Marino plates driving along the normally traffic-free Victoria Avenue in the Quarry in Shrewsbury yesterday morning. I'm assuming the gent driving it was working an exhibitor at the Shrewsbury Flower Show, as was I.
-
a new black Delta three times in a week...twice by Lake Garda and then next to us in Verona in the multistorey carpark..

E reg gold Thema heading north on the M6 near Stoke at about 1.30pm yesterday
-
On holiday in Malta at the moment, seen one ypsilon but more interesting, a photo of an alfa engine'd fulvia used in hill climbs in the late seventies.According to the museum curator it was fitted with a 1600 driving through the orginal 'box.As the engine was longer than the V4 the nose has an extension on it not unlike a Flavia Vignale. The owner was a Mr Tony Bugeja, if anyone knows more.
-
I have heard of the Alfa engined Fulvia myself, I take it you have seen the pictures at the motor museum on tourist street in Buggiba. There are several lancias in everyday use on the island. In the sleima and St Julians area I know of an immaculate gold Prisma, two Dedras and at least one early Fulvia which are in daily use. There are more than a few Ypsilon Kappas and Y10s that I spotted in the six years that I lived there. The Maltese hold Lancia in quite high regard as a brand. If you can, visit the old airfield at Hal Far. Every sunday there is a gathering of interesting cars here, and they also race on the dragstrip most of the morning. Lots of old sixties Italian stuff to be seen, You may even spot my old Alfa 164 30v6 in metallic green, the reg is MGH 164! Let me know if you do!
-
You reply on the day I leave !! You are correct in where is saw the photo, and I did see an Alfa 164 (silver) but I didn't catch the registration plate, and a very nice early GTV. There seem to be quite alot of older cars in good condition motoring around, but it will have to wait another year or so before I get to the airfield. A great place to go for a holiday if anyone is thinking, plenty of history to get into and the sea is great for snorkling :)
-
Gunmetal grey Volumex Coupe seen driving through Tiddleywink (B4039) on bank holiday Monday morning about 10.30am....presumably on its way to Castle Combe, as it wasn't visiting me!
-
Were you sat on the wall in your hi-vis with the hair drier ? ;)
-
Surprisingly not. Just going accross to the garages with the 10.30 glass of wine in hand!
-
LOL
... was waiting to see the Delta last night ... when are you going to bring it to the compass or has it run out of tax ?
-
Shinny red Integrale, spotted this evening (at the last moment), at the small bridge on the B3314, between Wadebridge, (Cornwall) and Trelights. I was in the red Fulvia waiting (im)patiently ::) for the holiday makers to negotiate our Cornish roads
-
Really weird coincidence...
At Millets Farm Centre in Oxfordshire. My car was parked on the start line of Saturday's Bullnose Rally all stickered up with its Clerk of the Course rally plates and, I noticed a bright red Evo parked in the main car park. I haven't seen another Lancia in Oxfordshire for weeks!

Yesterday in Cheltenham the Fuliva featured in Auto-Italia a couple of months ago ...
-
Augusta seen on the A2070 between Ashford and Brenzett at around 5.10pm.
Had to look twice as I've never seen one on the road before :o
-
Seen and enjoyed in Kent this afternoon – two Fulvia Coupes, both were being raced at Brands Hatch in the HSCC’s 70s Road Sports Championship. One was a blue S2 1600HF being driven by Ken Rorrison and the other a lime (?) S3 1300 being driven by Stuart Downward. Both drivers are in their first racing season and did well to finish in a big field. And both were Class winners of their different classes! The final race of this series is at Silverstone on 18 October.
-
Driving home last night on the unlight A4130 (Henley to Maidenhead) around 11pm my headlights picked up the number plate A** HPE in front. Must be a Lancia I thought and when it joined the A404 sure enough it was a red HPE. HPE's are rare enough (especially at night!) let alone a Lancia around Maidenhead.
-
Sounds like Stuart Harvey from Norwich, who bought Alan Coopers New Delta HPE Turbo, that Alan brought in as a personal import from Rotterdam.
If you were dazzled by the reflection of the paint, it was certainly Stuart ;D as he keeps his cars immaculate.

Spotted a red Dedra Turbo just outside Swiss Cottage station last Tuesday (9th Sept). Couldn't see much in the rush of traffic, though.
-
Blue Delta HF HPE seen at a filling station in Weston-super-Mare yesterday.

... and today a White integrale Evo on the back of a trailer going northbound on the M5 !!!
... it's almost becoming common :)
-
Dark green Beta coupe in Bath today - Lower Bristol Road at about 8am. Was it you, Marcus?
Would have beeped but the Ypsilon's horn has mysteriously failed (again).
-
J Reg Delta HF (LHD) in cheltenham
-
this weekend a sliver ypsilon series 1 in Bristol (belgium). very beat up lybra (?) in Bristol and Lybra estate just outside the office !
-
Not quite on the road but parked up on a driveway in Steeple Ashton in Wiltshire, I spotted what looked like a late Fulvia coupe in pale blue. It looked like it had not moved for a while, and was on aftermarket alloys. I did not have time to investigate further as I was at work and the boss was driving! It is very local to me (Westbury) so I will pop back and investigate soon. Anyone on here know of it?
-
Kappa seen in Bristol last weekend ... I'm on a roll !
-
The M54/A5 is something of a Lancia hot spot - spotted a French registered (Region 62) Thesis heading west past Shrewsbury at 5.30 last Friday. The Thesis looks wonderful on the move, the lad in the Saxo VTR following it was very interested!
-
Red grale in TENBY, reg may have been DGX, rare sight in and around here, any Lancia come to that :o
-
White K reg Evo in Walton-on-Thames by the river at 1.45 today near the Xcel leisure centre.

+ lots of nice Lancia's on the Club stand at NEC. ;D
-
Red Fulvia coupe on a transporter with a number of other classics on the way into Bath at about 8:20 this morning. Probably headed south for the A36. Can't tell you what the other cars were - they weren't Lancias so not important, really!!
-
Cream Flavia coupe yesterday morning comming out of Enstone in Oxfordshire. Never seen one on the road before, quite nice indeed!
-
As yet not a sighting, but advance notice of what you might see, or probably miss:
Early tomorrow morning (21 November) I will be tooling my Fulvia Sport round the North Circular in rush-hour traffic to Chiswick and then, hopefully zipping it down the M4 to what should be a cold but sunny Wiltshire. This is to take part in a photo-shoot for Classic Cars magazine. The idea is yet another comparison between Zagato Lancia and Alfa Romeo cars from the 1960s. Should be good.
Colin
-
Yesterday, about 2:30pm, a NEW RHD Delta in maroon and on trade plates. going South on the M40 between junctions 15 and 14.

On it's way from the FIAT storage facility at Warrington to Slough perhaps? So they have made one in RHD.
-
Rhys, that's the best glimmer of good news I've heard this week. Casts an interesting slant on something I was told last weekend...
-
It made my day too, although the person I was on the phone to at the time (hands free of course) didn't share my excitement.

Yellow 8v Integrale in Perth Tesco car park last Thursday afternoon.

Beta HPE in Trowbridge on Saturday
-
Red 'H' reg Delta Turbo on the A23/M23 northbound near Handcross at about 2pm, gave you the thumbs up from a blue/brown Freelander :-[ (well it had just been driven across a cows field, so much more fun in a company car!).
Ages since I've seen any of the 2wd Deltas on the road.
Just like my old one (probably reincarnated as a skip now :().
Mark
-
I didn't technically see a 2wd Delta on the road , it was on a trailer behind my car all the way from Stockton on Tees on saturday, does this count ???
-
Augusta! Black saloon BLD 729, seen today in the lanes of Kent south of Maidstone heading towards London.
Looking good.
-
Ok Ok we believe you ! :D

A 1.8 black Dedra Reg H***GCF seen in Homebase car park, Maidenhead on Fri 5/12. Maybe undercover as all the rear badges removed......but I could tell.
-
Black integrale evo (J**EVO) parked in the blue multistorey car park at the Metro Centre in Gateshead today.
-
A blue Italian registered Fulvia 3 coupe parked in a garage forecourt in Molesey over Christmas and New Year, yesterday a blue Ypsilon (original) in light blue outside Homebase in Walton-on-Thames, whilst I was driving a Beta...

I saw the same car driving down Fish Hill, Broadway. I think it was Don Cross. Ill ask him at our area lunch today. Fifteen booked in, including some from Historic Rally Car Register, so should be fun.
-
Hi Peter,
I saw the driver as I stopped and he passed me, and I'm pretty sure is wasn't Don?
Interesting you saw him in Broadway, what time was that? as I'd just come from the M5 at Tewkesbury and I wasn't hanging about, when it suddenly appeared behind me just before upper Swell.
Brian

-
Sorry, it was not the Cross. The car I saw was white so maybe different altogether! Still a good lunch with sixteen attendees.
-
Two 8.32's on the loose then as the one I saw was dark, possibly Lancia Blue?
Brian

My sighting may have been of a mundane Thema, but its still a coincidence. It was a G reg
-
Blue (and salty!) Fulvia Berlina (S2 I think?)driving through Hawkhurst (Kent) this morning just before 10am, did not recognise it at first as it had a radiator muff fitted and it just took that bit longer to register.
At least he was driving in the right direction as nothing was moving westbound!
-
Possibly a Lancisti non club member who lives in Rye and has at least two.
Brian
8227 8)
As I suspected it belongs to Gordon Cripps who lives at Iden near RYE, see parts wanted as he's looking for a radiator for it.
-
Sunday last around mid-day. David Mead in his Augusta BLP 999 heading towards Hailsham in East Sussex.
Splendid sight! poor photo, sorry!
Robin.
-
You don't see many and then they come out in two's and three's! Seen recently in Worthing - a vey smart Beta Coupe in what I can only describe as a dark metalic copper colour, an S1 Beta Monte Carlo in mid -blue with an elderly gentleman at the wheel (good on you sir) and a lovely white S2 Fulvia Coupe that apparently lives not 10 minutes walk from my house and that I did not know existed until I rang up a local car upholsterer to enquire about recovering my Appia front seats only to be told that he had just finished a complete reupholstery job on the said Fulvia! (Dark blue seats with cream piping).
Next day - just surfing Lancia on ebay and what do I find???................. yes - the Beta Coupe that I mentioned yesterday! My colour description appears to be a bit out though. If any member is interested but is not in easy reach of Worthing I would be willing to have a first look for them just to check it is as per the ad.
-
not strictly on the road but outside hall five at geneva show. a special edition delta in matt grey with black alloys. to be called angels and demons after forthcoming new film.
-
Looked at a nice new Delta in the paddock at Barcelona circuit today. It is true, pictures really do not do it justice. Very classy and imposing.
-
There is also an Executive edition at Geneva which is probably the car it should have been from day one. If you don't include the obvious!
-
A long weekend in The Hague resulted in the following tally:
1 x Dedra estate
1 x Dedra
2 x Delta HPE
3 x Ypsilon (a bi-colore in orange and black, a cream Oro, and a classy-looking black one)
1 x Kappa coupe
2 x Lybra
2 x Musa
Better than last time! Tried to find a Lancia dealer, too, but the address listed had a suspiciously-empty showroom. :(
-
Any k coupe spot is a good one, only ever seen ONE actually being driven on the road although did clock up 6 in an hour in Amsterdam while on a canal boat cruise - all parked up separately by the canal sides!
Saw a cream coloured current shaped Ypsi in High Wycombe on Sunday, not UK registered though
-
Not only saw one, but went to Goodwood in it on saturday, Peter Watcham's K Coupe 20VT.
Brian

-
I saw that one there too! But then I get to drive mine anytime - brought the 500 down to Goodwood for a change
-
Just remembered that I spotted a UK registered (DX05 ***) Thesis is Shrewsbury last Wednesday. DX is a local prefix so must be a Shropshire car. The week before I saw an L-reg :o RHD Delta (1st series), I think an HF Turbo in red, also in Shrewsbury.
-
Evo on the back of an AA trailer on the M4 near Swindown yesterday.
-
Today in Aberaeron, red quattro with a Lancia Martini sunstrip, was spotted last second as driving out in thr (secret) MGC with the hood down,Brill ;D
-
Silver Beta Coupe on the road at 7.40 this morning between Farnborough & Guildford on the back roads.
Think I've seen it before, but I'm always in my Alfa so don't flash to say hello.
-
Duncan, that might have been Tony (Betaboyz) as he probably travels that way to Ripley.
Also seen in Walton-on-Thames yesterday, blue/purple Ypsilon (series 1), on Italian plates I think.
-
Saturday late afternoon. White 16V on the A51 just north of Nantwich.....
First spot of an integrale on the road for years! (Except for Stan at Strensham services just after Castle Combe Rally show last year)
I was on my way back from Oulton Park and didn't spot it until the last minute so no chance to flash or wave....
-
Sunday afternoon Red 8/16v on the A361 towards Barnstaple in Devon ....
-
A weekend in Amsterdam provided some surprises
For the first time ever - or at least since 1998 - I managed to avoid calling in at Auto Halan! And didn't seee a single Y10 all weekend, where have they suddenly all gone
First Lancia spot of the weekend was from the train from Schipol, a new Delta. First of 2 for the weekend, along with 2 x Thesis, a Musa, a Lybra, a Delta and a few current Ypsis. Two were bi-colore, one looked smart in dark grey over silver, but what was going on in the other guy's head - light metallic blue over cream!
And a very rare spot for Amsterdam, an Evo 1 in dark blue
-
White quattro F75 0WL spotted in Ripley on the back of a transporter with French ? registered BMW and Porsche
the truck says Spain-UK / UK-Spain
not sure if it's coming or going I guess with UK plates its going ?
j886atv that was me in the Beta, give me a flash next time, and I'll flash back with my one and only working spot ::)

3 pm this afternoon, a blue B20 Aurelia traveling down Piggotts Hill Lane, Harpenden from Wheathampstead. Did not have time to note the reg.

10am on Monday 6th April, Ayr: Passed a Giallo Delta Integrale Evo waiting to enter a roundabout.
We were waving at each other like Loonies! ;D
Good to know that I'm not the only Lancia man left in Ayrshire!
I was cruising in my Met Bordeaux Series 2 V6 Auto Thema!
-
about 14.30 today between Rufford and Parbold a very clean White Thema so supprised didnt get a reg!
-
Blue Delta HF HPE in Weston-super-Mare ... shame I was walking along the sea front and not in the integrale which was parked round the corner !
-
Yellow L reg integrale Evo parked in Station Road, Addlestone, Surrey yesterday (23/4) at about 6.30 pm, any one from here?
-
Black Delta a couple of days ago (can't remember where), and today, a J-plate integrale heading south on the M5.
-
Called in to a nursery to pick up some plants today and as I left noticed the same UK registered Thesis that I've spotted around Shrewsbury before. Had a chat with the elderly gent that owns it, who it turns out is originally from San Marino (he has a RSM identifier on the rear). He takes the Thesis back every summer. First time I've seen on close up and in the flesh and I have to admit it's very special, with real presence. I mentioned that the AGM/National Rally will be just round the corner and he's going to try and come along.
Also spotted the same 2WD Delta that I saw a few weeks ago, this time in Frankwell, Shrewsbury by the English Bridge. It's a red J reg HFie with an AIM badge on the grill and driven by a lady.
These are the only Lancia's I've seen for some weeks, if I look out of my back door, sadly there's not a single one to be seen!
-
Another rare sight today in Aberystwyth, a FULVIA COUPE, bronze i think, L redg with number 75 on the drivers dooor. i was in the MGC hood down 8) BRILL ;D
-
Nice Flavia Sedan in Enstone, Oxfordshire first thing this morning. Not sure who was more surprised me or the Flavia driver seeing a Zagato at that time of day
-
Spotted a Beta coupe heading down the hill into Box just after 8am this morning. The colour was not quite red, not quite brown - what I would have ordinarily called... well... "rust". Looked in good nick. I took too long inspecting the grille "Is it or isn't it a Lancia?" to be able to wave.
-
Dark blue Aurelia B20 heading towards Eastbourne on the A22 at 1.30pm today.
Almost missed it - Margaret spotted it first!
Robin.

Fulvia coupe on Seven Hills Road, Hersham yesterday going towards Cobham.

ok, we towed the HF to the start of the Marathon and back home again, a round trip of 3,400kms. In between the car covered some 2,500kms of difficult competition owing to the bad weather. It rained pretty well non-stop for six days, enough to create huge washaways on the narrow unmade mountain roads. We finished fortieth out of sixty two but I should have done better considering how well the car went. The event was won outright by an Alfa Romeo Guilia.
-
Sounds like an interesting event :o
Any photos please?

Flaiminia Coupe with "777" reg number passing by my village yesterday. Shame I wasn't out in the k coupe so she could see her "grandmother"
Not on road, but watching old Saint reruns this morning, Roger Moore driving Flaminia dhc
-
Spotted a stunning S1 Fulvia coupe (W?? 840H) driving westbound along Wigton Road in Carlisle at 1420 today :). It looked to be either very dark green or black. As I only spotted it at the last minute, I didn't get a chance to flash my lights and wave >:(
-
There must be something about Wigton Road in Carlisle at the moment, as for the second time in as many weeks, I have seen another Lancia driving along there today :). This time it was a Dutch registered Zeta MPV.
-
Just seen the "rusty red" Beta coupe on the A4 between Bath and Chippenham again. I'm guessing it's someone commuting to Bath. Nice to see the car getting frequent use!
-
Beta S3 saloon or possibly a Trevi – silver Y reg. Seen driving through Muswell Hill (north London) this morning looking natural and not as rare as it!
-
That would have been me in the Trevi! :D I presume you were in the lovely white Delta?
-
No such luck! I was in my Punto on the way to a funeral.
But how nice to be noticed? I drive 3000 miles a year in my Fulvia Zagato and nobody seems to see me.
-
No such luck! I was in my Punto on the way to a funeral.

I know that feeling Colin. I drive the Lybra about 17,000 miles each year and never seem to get noticed :(
-
Colin. i noticed you at the AGM ;)
-
No such luck! I was in my Punto on the way to a funeral.
But how nice to be noticed? I drive 3000 miles a year in my Fulvia Zagato and nobody seems to see me.
So I can say here "Lovely white Delta (sorry didn't get the reg, only saw it in my rear view mirror) spotted driving around Muswell Hill in North London"
-
Not relevant, I know, but I saw an Alfa Romeo 2.9 Pininfarina Convertible ( yes really) on the M6 today, so I think that should be recorded!!!!
-
Aha, managed to get my cameraphone out (while stationary of course) to catch the red 2WD Delta (H186 YYJ) that lives in and around Shrewsbury - looks like a daily driver. It's not Tom's red LHD GTie.

Took the Alvis to the next door village Fete today - usually a couple of local Lancisti there and this year was no different. Although Paul Atkinson was on holiday, Ivan Rhodes bought his RR 20/25 and Brian Hands his Agusta. Lovely car.
-
Seen in Dean Street, Soho last Friday evening – see photo. A lovely Lambda tourer apparently being driven by someone in fancy-dress pretending to be the Lord Mayor! Looked to me he was trying to gate-crash a stylish reception for some Italian big-wigs. The car certainly helped his credibility. Rumour has it that the event was rather good too.
Colin
-
Shot from the "chase car" on the way to Goodwood. Modest little garage she is in until next weekend - the C-type is the ex-Rolt/Hamilton car that won Le Mans in '53, thats the back of an XJ 220 and the front of an XK13 Proteuos Replica, the ex Hawthorn '55 D-type will be joining them during the week as well as an ex-works lightweight E-Type. As I said ....a modest little collection ;D

Seen at Brands Hatch today - the most amazing race between two Fulvias: Ken Rorrison in his S2 1600 Coupe racing against Alex Childs in his Fulvia Sport 1600. This was a twenty minute race and between the two of them, the lead changed every lap, until Ken’s car started to run on three and had to retire. The following snaps at Paddock Hill Bend don’t do justice to it, but they might give an impression of how it was. Wonderful!

A Beta Coupe looking good in light blue, but sadly on a trailer rather than being driven. Seen early yesterday afternoon on the A303 – heading east somewhere north of Salisbury. Possibly en route home after a photo-shoot in Wales?
-
I think this was being returned to its owner after some body repairs in the SW to Surrey, if it is the one no mechanical gremlins just being delivered only, the owner is very happy I understand.
-
Seen this afternoon on Kop Hill Climb, this Lambda (see photo below) being driven up the hill by Howard Morgan - looking and sounding great. Chris Hopkins was also on the hill in his Fulvia Coupe and was one of the few cars to produce wheel-spin on take–off.
Other Lancias there included Brian Hilton’s ‘fay’, Peter Loftus’ Fulvia Sport and my Sport. And it was a pleasure again to meet friend-on-the-forum Roger Elias, but I didn’t see what car he came in.
Colin
-
Colin, Sounds like a great day out. Lin and I are in Geneva attending the Classic Aviation and Cars exhibition otherwise we would have been there.
-
Nice to see you also Colin, re which car i came in, i did you not see the red F40? ;) ;)
-
Roger,
I was trying to be discrete about your extravagant choice of cars. I didn’t see the F40, I thought this one was yours:
Colin

yeah i wish ;) ;)

Interesting Aprilia at Kop Hill Climb on Sunday
Does anybody know anything about this car as it has been to some club events
in the past. It has all Aprilia running gear with some kind of space frame chassis.
-
Did we all get cameraphones for our birthdays? It's great to actually see the spotted cars in the wild.
Anyway, much to my surprise I was driving through Wellington in Shropshire last week when I was amazed to see a green (Verde York) integrale Evo, reg K5 CWS go in the opposite direction along Whitchurch Road. I didn't wave or flash as I was in the smart.
I now deliver to a customer in Shifnal. Over the road is a very weathered red F-reg Delta Turbo, intact but with various additional body panels and trim stuffed in the interior. Will try and get a pic next time I'm there.
-
Will, The Aprilia special belongs to Tim Britnell. Ade.
-
This is an Aprilia Special, built by Tim Britnell and featured in the 1978 LMC 30/50 event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the LMC. A photo by Roger Perry of this car with others has already been posted on this forum. It is scanned and in the LMC photo archive as LMC 44. It also features in the LMC film of the same event. Good to see the car still exists. Tim and the car were listed in the 1985 Members Register living in High Wycombe, but not in the 1991 issue. Who owns it now I wonder?
PS. Delighted to see Ade’s post and to learn that Tim Britnell still owns it and hopefully still exists!
PPS
I should have added the photograph from the digital (and searchable) archive – here it is below. And its caption is:
Line-up at LMC 30/50 event in 1978. Front row: the Chequered Flag Stratos, Barry Waterhouse in Fulvia Sport (Rastos), Tim Britnell in Aprilia Special. 2nd row: Barrie Crowe in Aurelia B20, John Savage in Aurelia B20 and Dave Scheldt in Aprilia. Roger Perry photograph.

Deleted, oops

I have added a photo to my earlier post on the Aprilia special. Some might want to look back to see.

Spotted yesterday and again today - the red Beta coupe. I was on my bike yesterday, and the lower speed gave me the chance to spot the car earlier and get the registration number - VEE616V. Both spots were on the road between Box and Chippenham, so I'm narrowing down where the car resides...
-
Not in a Lancia but club member and Augusta owner David Mead resplendant in crash hat driving his Fiat Ballila on the A22 south of Nutley. Superb!
Robin.
-
My dad saw a black (or could have been Lord blue....he is colour blind!) integrale yesterday in Whitby. He said it was on a J-plate.
-
Spotted a black (or very dark blue/green) Montecarlo with private plate and round evo style headlights crossing the River Severn via the New Bridge at Ironbridge at about 4pm this afternoon. Haven't seen a Monte in the wild for ages!
-
Went home to Milton Keynes to visit my parents at the weekend and saw a white Delta Turbo Martini at the junction of Millers Way and Great Monks Street on Saturday at about 4.30pm. A little bit scabby around the door bottoms but it still had all of its stripes. This must have been a Ganderton's of Buckingham car as its reg was F374 YRP, my Y10, also from Ganderton's was F368 YRP.
-
Over the last week seen mainly in Belgium, with only a couple in France.
1 New Delta.
4 New Ypsilon.
4 Musa.
2 Old Ypsilon.
not a lot for 6 days worth of looking :(

Seen in Chiswick yesterday lunchtime
A very rare Aprilia Pininfarina convertible (1939) owned by Ron Purbrick arriving at the Lambda Lunch (as advertised in the current issue of Viva Lancia!) Sadly, this lovely car suffered clutch failure just outside the pub and had to be helped into a parking space. Hopefully this was only a problem with the clutch linkage and all will be fixed soon.

Possible saw Andy's Appia heading towards Portishead as I was leaving ... but it was dark and I was going by the shape and the lights :)
-
Spotted a bright yellow series 2 Delta (looked very nice) in Frome on Monday. Anyone on here?
-
That will have been Ian Headford, from whom I bought my Dedra Turbo. He's an LMC member, but not on the forum.
-
Ok, thanks....I know that Dedra Turbo! ;D

Spotted this morning (02/11/2009) a Silver Beta HPE parked in Dartmouth Park Hill near Tufnell Park in North London. As I was in the Trevi, I slowed down and waved as I was going past ;D ;D
-
Had another Thesis moment in Shrewsbury again this afternoon. The same car that came to the AGM. It looks so good on the road.
-

Spotted again this morning (11/12/2009) in the same place but facing the other way. Which I make it to mean that it lives there and is in regular use as it's turned round ;) But my Trevi started on just 3 cylinders this morning :-[ so I had to resort to German means of transport :-[ and hence I didn't wave going past this time :-[ ;D

Another Lancia in Maidenhead is a rarity but I glimpsed a Lancia Kappa on the Bath Rd by Redroofs Theatre day school (where Oscar winners go) at 10.30 this morning. I was so astonished that all I can say it was dark blue.....whether it was the saloon or coupe I couldn't say. I will look out again next Saturday.

Sightings in Oz
Having given Peter Renou his Appia Series 3 back after the Castlemaine Rally (many, many thanks Peter - can I run your Astura next time???) , I left the event in my hired Toyota Camry (better than you might think) and within 1/4 mile saw a black Beta Spyder - top(s) down driven by a fairly young guy with whom I asume to be his two small daughters in the back - AND THIS CAR HAD NOT BEEN ON THE CASTLEMAINE RALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jumped on the Victoria Goldfields Railway steam train for a bit of nostalgia - sat down in the ladies carraige (well it was the most comfortable) and got talking to a steam buff who had travelled some 1,500 odd miles to experience this train and when I explained that I had just been on the national Lancia Rally he immediately responded - "Oh my best friend in Queensland has a Lambda" !!! - OK not seen, but what a coincidence!
About 3 weeks later in the Blue Mountains and goodness knows how many thousands of miles later I glimpsed a Lancia badge on a parked car as I swept by. Hard braking and a "Uie" saw me heading back in time to see that it was a 2000 Berlina but not in time to perform another "180" before the owner gunned it down the road - so near and yet.....
- and this is in a country some 18 times larger than the UK which has not had a Lancia dealer imported car since about 1983(no deltas)!!!
-
Saw an Italian reg kappa coupe parked up in Berkeley Square, W1 late last Friday evening
-
Here's the Delta that I posted about in Shifnal, Shropshire
-
Loton track day car...? ;D

Followed red Delta Integrale N241 AHD from Eastbourne town centre to Langney roundabout 5 o'clock this evening.

Worth getting married, just to arrive in a Lambda!

I have a photo of that Lambda when it was white, taken in the 60s with other Lambdas, i think it may have been the Copa Monza.
-
Friday evening, 5.30, 18 Dec, and on my way to the Royal Albert Hall and spotted an R reg 16V Ypsilon in Sydney Street, Chelsea. Seen Lancia's in Chesea before and I put it down to the number of Italian restaurants that are there. Chef's with good taste maybe??
-
What Colin didn't say is that he is the driver who speedily delivered me and daughter to the wedding. The car hasn't been seen since.........

And I thought I had got away with it!
Now heading south on the Autostrada from Siena and all going well. All the tricky bits are now mastered – in and out of any gear at any speed is a doddle. Still can’t find the heater controls though. Rear vision is rubbish, but what the hell?
Yesterday had a bit of a run in with some blokes in Mexican outfits thinking I could help them find an Appia Camoncino - I ask you!
I guess I will have to give in soon.
Such pleasure!

-
French registered 2nd series Ypsilon spotted today at 1315 on the A595 at Moota, heading westbound towards Cockermouth.
-
It's amazing how your Lancia Radar works, managing to spot the merest detail of a car to identify it as a Lancia whilst driving by at 50mph! Whilst on the A458 at Halfway House between Shrewsbury and and the border with Powys I spotted a red integrale Evo off the main road. I've never seen it there before but also noticed a rally prepped car on a trailer at the same house, possibly a Peugeot. I'll have to slow down next week and have a look.
-
Dark coloured basic C reg Delta (1500?) in Shipley, West Yorkshire on the Otley Road 2nd March.
-
Seen entering M5 southbound from the Worcester/Evesham junction, a MK11 Delta in light blue or grey, possibly both, reg number P16HPE

I stopped at a Tesco in Cambridge the other day and came out to find dark blue French registered Kappa 2.4 parked up along side my Y10.

New Delta seen between Eccleshall and Woodseaves today in Staffs.
I instinctively waved.

Definitely wasn't me asI am in Cumbria! Unless Donald was in the area from Scotland, there must be a third in the UK.

Oh that's a surprise then.
It was very dark colour with a black roof as far as I could make out.
Perhaps UK Delta no 3 is about then.

Probably Bob Hirschorn who has/had-Owned or worked at, a motor parts place in Stroud but now lives in Malvern.
If it was immaculate then it's almost certainly Bob's, I put a "for sale" notice on the Forum about it a few months ago, high mileage but probably the best one you'll find anywhere.

Whilst on holiday last week in Barbados I was on my way back to the airport when Louise spotted the a white Fulvia - some 4200 miles away from the UK. Obviously I had to turn around and take some time out to speak to the owner who had acquired it from a Swedish Man recently who had the car on the island for some years. ;D ;D

As I pulled off the AI at Morpeth two weeks ago yesterday after a 400 mile drive up from Sussex to enjoy some fresh air walking, the first car I saw was a very smart metallic grey Flavia Coupe. Known to the club?
Yesterday whilst driving along the A27 in Worthing - yes back to the clogged up Sussex roads! A black Thesis with black tinted windows went the other way. I think it was on foreign plates.
-
And here’s another photograph of the same delectable line of Lancias at Silverstone yesterday, with one of another ‘star-car’ seen at the same event – an Aurelia B20 Fourth Series.

Just for interest - on my holiday for a week plus! in the Napoli area this month, I saw far more Lancias than Alfas and not only small ones. Lots of new Deltas and some Phedras. Is this common throughout Italy or is it down to the proximity of appropriate dealers?
-
First time I have had to post but saw a Red Prisma on the motorway at the begining of the month NTF ***F. It was going very strong at approx 70mph.

Lancia's market share in Italy is consistently around the 4.5% mark and increasing. Alfa by contrast is experiencing a decline in home sales, hovering around 2% market share. Alfa really is the proverbial drain for Fiat.

On Sunday 25th ( Drive it Day ) a gorgeous silver grey Aurelia B20 went right past my house !

Ypsilon is a rearly nice looking car and great fun to drive, if anyones interested my old elefantino Rosso that I imported in 1999, is for sale on ebay, still looking good, and being sold by it's third (including me) Lancia Motor Club Member.
Dedra's have mostly fallen into the hands of people who wanted the car but couldn't afford, or didn't want to pay the cost of servicing, incorrect or lack of proper servicing is a real killer as far as Dedra is concerned, hence so very few about, in actual fact Will How's old HF turned up at the Brooklands Autoitalia day the other week much to Will's surprise, still looking pretty good for it's age.

Hi Alan,
Spent a few days with friends enjoying the view over the Tamar and the bridge from their conservatory and garden overlooking the river ;D
I had intended giving you a call on our way back yesterday, but too much traffic, including 100's of motorbikes taking part in some sort of run, :D
So we headed for the Hills, or in our case the semi flatlands of Bedfordshire :D
Is the Thesis known in your part of the world or was it a visitor?

hi.i new to lancia ownership[my last car being a silvia turbo] but since i got my thema s2 on the road people seem to want to start conversations most recent being a chap in a supermarket carpark who said his last company car was a thema and he used to sell them at ivor hill in wimbledon,i recently saw an s3 thema ls that was smart in ashstead and a little while ago in a filling station in cheam was chatting to a bloke who had a blue beta coupe that was quite smart recently back on the road after some work, biggeset surprise was the mot in tadworth where most of the staff seemed to have worked for jack rose in wallington!
small world eh?

Dark Blue Aurelia on A217 yesterday. Considering their age its great to see how much 'prescence' these cars still have on our roads. Surrounded by modern blandness they really stand out - or maybe I just had on my rose tinted spectacles!
-
Beta Spider, TFK 171R, spotted in Sedgley yesterday. DVLA shows that it was registered on 1/5/77 and has been unlicenced since 1/10/93. ALso saw a stripped out Delta shell on the M6 yesterday. On a trailer, obviously. :P

Polish registered Lybra berlina 2.4JTd spotted in Carlisle. Other than my Lybra SW, I have never seen a Lybra in my home town before, so it really made my day. I only wish I had been in the Lybra when I spotted it rather than in the Delta!
-
Red Montecarlo parked under a carport on the way into Boston. (looked very nice and had a wheel clamp on it - for security not because it was illegally parked!!)
-
Silver German registered Phedra spotted in Bristol today.

-
Does this mean Modestine is cured of her latest hiccup then? :o
-
Yes, she ran well yesterday coping brilliantly with the heavy London traffic. Details of the over heating problem will appear on the Modestine thread.
Excellent event too. Around 50 Lambda (and one Dilambda!) enthusiasts met up at The White Swan Fetter Street for a superb lunch and convivial chat. Many thanks to John Turner for the arrangements.
Robin.

GOOD NEWS ;D ;D ;D

My poor attempt to take a 'full of atmosphere' photograph of Modestine cosying up to John Turner's Lambda. :-*

After reading that I thought 50 ! How did you manage to park that lot ? Then I read it again and realised it doesn't mean 50 cars ! Good photo though Robin , took a bit of working out :)

Passed Tom from Shrewsbury in his LHD L Reg Delta this afternoon, driving through Minsterley on the A488.

You could question of these Lancias were actually seen 'on' the road !!
On Tuesday this week in the grounds of Glasgow airport I see a car transporter with no less than 3 Fulvia Coupes on it, all rally prepared and being delivered to start the Monte Carlo Classic from the Glasgow starting venue.
I do have a picture of the transporter complete with the cars ... but the file seems to be too big to fit on this forum

Very good nick bronze Thema with a private plate heading down the A41 past Lords on Sunday morning
-
Last night in Bath on the A4 a Red 8v/16v with one front light out ....
-
walking through Bath yesterday I spotted two Deltas within minutes of each other. One late Evo in Lord blue on an N plate, and then a late Hf turbo in black on a J plate. Both looked in nice order but were going in different directions so I think it was pure coincidence. I think the Hf turbo is possibly the one I spotted last year on the A46 near Bath. Great to see a couple of Lancias on the road. ;D
-
Black Integrale seen Feb 26th on route to Lewes to pick up OVS (Aprilia), and yesterday (9/3) Maroon Fulvia heading east on A303 as we were going to Torquay to pick a Ciroen Dyane. Sorry no reg as they both travelling v fast...

Spotted the Fulvia coupe which used to belong to Alan Fairclough twice in the last few days. Both times it was by Thirlmere in the Lake District. The first time was on my way to the GNW and the second time was today. Both times I flashed my lights and waved :D

White 16v intregrale in my road Tuesday afternoon/evening, any one in Hersham, Surrey? (looks like it needed a wash, perhaps he had been using on a rally stage somewhere ;D )

Yellow Hawk Stratos heading south on the A22 almost on my doorstep at Chiddingly last Saturday. Perhaps been to Brooklands? I was in the Dilambda and waved but not certain if he responded.
Likely to have been TDC advisor Chris Richards from Eastbourne who I know has been building one.

The Ecurie Ecosse transporter complete with D type and 2 others (a C type? +something else) went right past my house on saturday morning!

Had a look over to wolviston tonight, only a few cars turned out for this charity related evening but amongst the few were 2 very nice fulvia's both cream in colour.
-
had a great day at Prescott yesterday and there were plenty of Lancia present including 2 Fulvia, a Beta Coupe, an integrale and a lovely silver Aprilia. but the point of this is to mention the K-reg red Evo that I passed on the way back from London. picture and thumbs up all round - the car was very high spec with a full lighting rig on the front and I suspect on its way back from Cornbury!
-
That's good - I was intending to go to Prescott but there's just too much doing next weekend! Next year I hope!

The yellow Hawke Stratos again on Sunday this time heading out of Eastbourne on the A22 so must be Chris Richards I think.

Overtaken by a Gamma 2nd Series Coupe 2500 i.e. on a B plate and a light blue colour, heading west on the M4 near Bath. Someone must know that ! I did give a thumbs up but they were going much faster .... ( on cruise control @ 65mph :) )
-
Probably Mr Bristow, as the other pale blue one
was on the M5
-
It was indeed Peter bringing me my new (Gamma) triple core radiator. It should help to keep it cool - well Gammas are very "cool" in some ways but do have a tendency to get hot and bothered on occasion.
-
That's a good spot then ! Not at any event and someone in the club that I've met !

An early white Beta Coupe heading south on the A1 yesterday afternoon. White, skinny tyres tucked under looking very period.

Red integrale, White Hill in Chesham, am Tues 14th or Wed 15th.

Spotted languishing in a suburban front garden yesterday, in Bayston Hill, just south of Shrewsbury. I'm pretty sure that it was a genuine HF 4WD and not an HF Turbo with a light conversion. Very faded red and I think the reg was E774 YYK, although will double check next week.

In the 2000 Register of owners and their cars it belonged to a Mr J.B.Robinson Alexandra Ave, Meole Brace Shrewsbury, is it the same place? or perhaps he's moved since then but stayed in the same area.
And is listed under Delta HF 4WD.

It was dark blue. I was passing the campsite at the time and the car was visible from the road. I suspect that the owners were in their tent, as there was nobody near the car!

Hello Robin
That was me - I was leaving the Six Bells in a bit of a hurry - I'm only down the road from you in Hooe.
Would be good to meet up sometime. I have the aforementioned B24 spider bought as a project from Colin Buckmaster's estate and a scuro blue sixth series B20. My son (passenger on Saturday) has a second series 1600HF, and funniy enough we were wondering whereabouts you are in Chiddingly.

Personally I think the 'Chryslers' will become too numerous to be of interest to this column, but perhaps warrant their own?
-
Agree !
But if you own new delta or one of the other models do you become a member of the lancia motor club or the chrysler club.
On the brighter side at least there is a extremely faint link between the two manufacturers when it came to winning rallys many years ago, chrysler with the sunbeam later to become the talbot sunbeam lotus driven by Henri Toivonen who went from there to eventually the delta s4.

The Navy 73 D reg Fulvia is a low light car. I think it was a South African car. Its for sale on a European website at the moment, Google Lancia Fulvia Ireland and you will find it. The red Fulvia was spotted on the way back from a new Delta test drive With Daragh, I met the owner before whe he was stuck for an engine but he has no interest in the club. The photo is taken from the passenger seat of my Thema, so I suppose there are two lancia's in the picture ;D

Another Fulvia - this time a shiny red Sport junction 9 M25 yesterday afternoon - curiously it had 2 registrations, a 'J' plate at the front and a private plate at the back - not sure what Plod will make of that.
Badged as a 1600 but isn't 'J' a year too early for 1600s?
Clive
-
V odd. Certainly looks like a 1600 but Zagato Fulvia Sport register shows no J reg.
-
Wasn't a Jersey plate was it? It certainly has 1600 door handles.
-
No it was a UK plate 3 letters, 3 numerals and 'J', denoting a mid 70 to mid 71 registration I believe.
I think the Jersey ones are 'J" and a string of numerals?
-
Presume you parked on the M25 to get such a clear pic ;D
-
Yes I know looks like that, but actually about 60mph!! - the iPhone camera is terrific.
-
Front plate specifically for foward facing Specs cameras..............????

This must be the cunning plan!

Yellow Integrale N900*** (not the usual one I see around Baildon) at Driglington crossroads. Today 4.30.

Errr ref 2 number plates doesn't an L read as a J in the mirror and then it might have had the same number on the back and front!!!
(it was me - no need to alert plod) and Hello from new member...I've already found this forum a great resource and I haven't posted anything yet, well other than this nonsense.

Flaminia Super Sport parked up in Arundel castle today at the end of a line of Lagonda's
Only took a piccie of the Lancia :)

Light coloured (white?) new Delta with a private plate travelling north on A1 near Haggerston at lunch time today.

Saw a good looking dark blue Thema, reg. no. D1 KCH, on the back of a flat bed truck heading west on the M4 between J12 and 13 this morning at about 9.15am.

Ahh, well it was raining so Roland had a leather helmet and goggles on so no wonder I didn't recognize him!

Spotted last Saturday (28th July) on the A66 at Penrith heading westbound, a current model Ypsilon. It was on foreign plates (not sure where from) but it was definitely a real Lancia and not one of the Chr***er fakes!!!

Series 2 Fulvia coupe spotted today (3 August) at 18:15 on the A595 near Wigton, heading towards Carlisle. Unfortunately I didn't manage to wave as I was almost past the car before I noticed it :'(

Seen lots recently, including several, plus two Deltas, when driving the National Weekend routes. Took this as a good omen. I think Chrysler are having a big push at the dealers, as the one near me has six Ypsilons lined up at the roadside flanked by two Deltas, looks fairly impressive. Just a pity they don't have their proper badges!
-
Very nice Powder Blue Monte Carlo heading north bound on the A77 Bypass at Ayr (Wednesday 5/9/12 at around 6:15pm). I think it was a Series1 as I couldn't make out the outline oif a grille between the headlamps.
I was in a Lancia Blue Flavia Coupe PF, but I don't think the other drive recognised my car as a Lancia despite me waving my arm out the window.
Some sort of modern Ferrari went by seconds before, but I don't know one new Ferrari from another as they all look like red halibut to me. :P

When I was returning from Italy about 6 weeks ago I was lamenting the few Lancias I had seen there - except for Musas (Musi?) which were everywhere! - when a Thesis swept by at great speed - I noted that it appeared to be stretched a little but thought nothing of it.
At the AGM I mentioned this to Paul Baker who got extremely excited as I gather only 2 or 3 were ever made - he was very disappointed that a did not get a photo but as I told him I was driving at the time!

The look of the Ypsilon is growing on me I have to say. Loads of delivery mileage examples on Autotrader for around £8K. Mmm. Our local Chrysler dealer has been shut down by JCT600 so it doesn't look like anything Chrysler is selling well, although the Deltas seem to command nearer their list price.

Yesterday at 18:00ish along the M4 eastbound at Bristol, a dark coloured F plate Delta - not an integrale and probably not even an HF turbo

A head to head in Reading last week. This is the long arm of coincidence again in that I managed to park in front of a Polish Delta. Even more surprising is I managed to find an on road parking space in Reading!
-
On the main road from Marbella to Malaga last Wednesday morning (okay, okay) a pimento coloured Stratos! Or admittedly probably a replica. On the opposite carriageway so not good enough view to be sure.
BTW, seeing the thread about 'almost-Lancias' above, we have now had our delivery-mileage white Ypsilon for 4 months and WE LOVE IT! It was a real bargain at £6750 - compare that with Fiat 500 prices. And it's got 5 doors! It is a bit slow (though cruises happily at 85) but I'll get Keith to gradually breathe on it... shhhhh.......

Yesterday Sainsburys car park Bramingham Luton, I spotted the very nice Chrysler Ypsilon that I'd spotted previously parked in Ampthill Bedfordshire a couple of times, but this time the the young lady owner was sitting in it, I approached and tapped on her window and got the 'what does this old bloke want' look! but once I'd explained the Lancia connection I asked her what she thought of it, very pleased to hear she absolutely adores it ;D

Going through this post today and just realised that the above Black Monte 811CRV is my old car I gifted to Jez Pigden of the MC Consortium. I believe the deal was when he gets it through the MOT I can have the registration back.

Walking on the road through Alexandra Park (north London) late last evening in clear moonlight - from behind me there was the sharp sound of tyres squeak and a rumble from a slowing engine. The car passed me slowly and in the lights of the car following I could see it was Integrale E249 NOW. I guess he hadn’t been much bothered about the 20 MPH limit on that road, which is never enforced anyway.

As I was parked on the roadside just off the A417 to the south of Didcot adjusting the c/b points on my Aprilia on Friday afternoon a dark blue Fulvia Sport motored past. Much to my chagrin it failed to stop, despite much arm-waving on my part.
(I was approaching the village of Aston Upthorpe having arranged to meet an old lady and remind her of the wonders of the Aprilia. Fortunately the operation on the points was successful and the lady was suitably impressed to be reminded of the car in which she had taken her driving test, around 1955!)

Grey Flavia Vignale in Willingham High Street, Cambs, last Saturday, 27th July. Top down, couldn't get registration due to parked cars and pedestrians so had to keep eyes on the road. Is this a local car? If so, we have a regular Cambs meet so would love to get together. Anyone know the car?

Lambda - 7th Series Weymann Saloon. Seen on the road in Hackney this afternoon – the first time on the road for almost 40 years. This is the late John Turner’s car being transported away to have the remaining trimming done and finishing off after a long drawn out and painstakingly thorough restoration. One little detail to enjoy underneath is the escapimento – seen here in pristine condition before the engine is run for the first time.

There is a red Integrale here in Wilton near Salisbury.
The owner also ownes a car repair bodyshop here which is quite handy as I think the car has spent some time within it! But he drives it daily to work and so on and loves it. It sounds great too.
It was seing this car that reminded me how much I liked them so I started looking for one. Nice one though above my budget but in any case doubt if I could have coped with LHD. Eventually found the Delta Turbo which I am very pleased with. I am suprised at just how quick it is but then have not had a turbo car before. Did have a Golf GTI mark 1 many years ago and the Delta seems much quicker. Perhaps memory playing tricks but I dont think so. It stops better too!

A couple of Lancias spotted in Narbonne. We saw something every time out. Tempted to buy a dry one? Here's what's on offer in the region. Betas and Y10s still, lots of Dedras, a Prisma.
http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/offres/languedoc_roussillon/?f=a&th=1&q=lancia
The town:
http://www.creme-de-languedoc.com/Languedoc/city-guides/narbonne.php
If ever in Narbonne "Chez Bebelle" in the covered market is great fun, and a delicious horse steak. He's an ex-rugby player setup next to all the butchers. When an order comes in he picks up the megaphone to call it down to the appropriate butcher. When ready they blast on their particular whistle for him to catch it as it is thrown back. Another time I might chance the Tartare which was very popular there.
David

I was very pleased to see when we visited Narbonne back in the 1990's that McDonalds hadn't got away with their corporate image, and their place was painted blue.
The Lancia dealer in Narbonne was great and gave us a ride in what was then the new Kappa, even though I'd told him that we were unlikely to buy one. They also had a Y10 that had a clear panel in the tailgate and behind the panel was matching cloth to the interior.
Lovely place.

Beige Beta Coupe S2 Pre facelift DOO 43T on Pepper Lane, Standish at 5.30pm today. Had an orange interior, don't think it had rear headrests which would make it a 1300 but cannot be sure as soon as it had it appeared it had gone and I did not get a proper look. Think it had a small LMC badge on the grille but I don't recall ever seeing it (the car) before.

There is a theory that a lot of the sliding pillar cars have become too 'valuable' to drive around, and/or they are being bought up by investors who have no interest in using them or in their history?

Excellent turn out at Wrest Park on the Sunday after the run, we had 28 cars all lined up together in the Walled Garden Car Parking with 52 drivers & Passengers.
As we had to get everyone through into the house before part of it closed for a Wedding it was likened by someone as akin to herding cats :D
However everyone had time to go aand have a look before the rooms closed, although the rooms containing the exhibition and all of the gardens were still open.
I then took a party of 26 on a tour of the Chinese Wallpapered Bedroom and dressing room, as well as the French Wallpapered room, using one of the steep servants staircases which were a bit of a struggle for some including me! as we were unable to use the lovely staircase from the hall.

On Wednesday, a 1.3 Fulvia coupe on the M25 with 5.5. inch cromodoras. Haven't seen a Fulvia in the wild for some time. Was going the other way - the Fulvia was heading towards a pretty long queue, hope it didn't get blocked for too long.

We saw a red 1.3 Fulvia coupe with French registration going through Pouzols in Minervois about 3 weeks ago. We were going in the opposite direction so only fleeting glance. Only Fulvia I have seen in France not seemingly on any event/rally. Ring any bells Simon?

In the dealer and then auction pictures it looked a real treat. The story was that it came from a 200 (or so) car collection in Italy and was restored by that owners full time in house team and it came to the UK in a batch when he had a clear out.

Red Fulvia Zagato seen west bound on the A417 between Streatley and Blewbury, today at around 13:30. My wife, being the passenger, could not understand why I was suddenly paying particular interest to the stylish red car coming the other way!

It must be several years since I last saw a Lancia on the roads round here, so allow me a bit of self-indulgence! My new Appia's first outing (last on the road in 1984!); hoping that the road salt has been washed away with the recent rains, I ventured out this morning for a quick run:

That looks so good. Well done on getting on the road.

Shame it has to have such a huge number plate! Otherwise a super little car.
Regards, John

I disagree, John; I think it's a shame so many owners of Italian cars put illegally small plates on their cars!

I disagree, John; I think it's a shame so many owners of Italian cars put illegally small plates on their cars!
this legal stuff is ambiguous. My MOT man (he is very strict and thorough) said that if the car carried a smaller number plate surround pre 73 ie silver on black style and that the numer plate was readable then it was legal. Indeed most Lancias have a rear numberplate surround which you cannot get 7standard size symbols in side without reducing the font size. The front bumpers are pre drilled for the italian stainless suround......this discussion exists elsewhere on the forum....

Delta 1.6 GT ie in the Sth of France - parked at Carcassonne airport - very pretty apart from 3 flat tyres and a dent in the front wing
.... only joking Tim, everything looks fine !

Fulvia Coupe. Yesterday afternoon - on the winding road through Alexandra Park in north London. While walking through the park in cold winter sunshine I was woken from my daydream by a familiar exhaust note. I looked back to see a red Fulvia Coupe DVD 250K disappearing into the distance – it made my day.

Saw a Gamma this morning on the M40 going West towards oxford. it was just coming through the white Chiltern hills pass at about 10:10am it looked in great condition and was a brown/burgundy colour. Didn't spot the Registration :(
-
Not such a novelty here in southern Italy seeing a Lancia on the road so I have conducted some statistical research.
While waiting at the side of a busy road with nothing better to do I counted 100 cars going by and 8 were Lancias.
The next 100 resulted in 11 Lancias - so as near as makes no difference that equates to about 10%.....more than I was expecting.
-
John, a wide jealous streak has just appeared in my persona........:(
But, keep on counting, til you see a Lambda!

Hmmm.....might take some time.
Only ever seen 1 other Appia and 1 Flaminia - anything slightly exotic is as rare here as it is in the UK.
-
Can't remember when I last saw a Lancia on the road. :(
-
I followed a Spanish registered Phedra yesterday just south of Derby. I was in a Skoda so did not flash him!

Hardly on the road, but well wrapped up against the Alpine weather while the owner uses his 'winter driver' Autobiachi (I saw that one leaving tracks in the snow!). La Thuile, Northern Italy.

Sunday 8th March early afternoon.
Gold 2000 or 200HF heading south on the A22 in the Uckfield area.
Robin.
-
Sunday 12th April round lunch time travelling south on the B658 in Bedfordshire between Biggleswade and Shefford a red Stratos, LHD with the wing over the back of the cabin. Didn't get a reg and haven't a clue if real or replica (but I don't care it was just brilliant to see it).
-
Astonished to see a very tidy 1.6HF Lusso in for Mot at my local garage in Church Stretton, in fact I did a double take because I thought the missus had nicked the Fulvia and taken it out for a drive! Reg number JAPxxxx. Lovely looking example.
-
White 2000 Coupe on the M11, gong north yesterday morning ......too far away to see more détails
-
That was probably my white 2000hf coupé taking my son to cricket at his school in Chigwell.
-
That would make sense ! Great to see you and your 2000 out and about.

Seen on 2nd May a red Integrale at the Downton classic car show section of the Downton Cuckoo Fair. Spoke briefly to the owner, Giles Hopgood from Andover, and he gave me his card. Trades as D G Rally, specialist of post 70's Alfa, Fiat, Lancia and Arbarth spares. Does anyone know of him or can recommend his services?

I was out in the Aurelia yesterday ( getting ready for the PR next week) and saw a nice red Beta Spider just outside Chester. We both waved furiously - a great chance encounter!

Seen yesterday on the A38 going North just to East of Derby, a red Fulvia coupe TVT 761L going very nicely. Did not wave as I was in a Skoda!

Another Kappa Coupe is on the Hampshire roads, Geoff Wheeler from Winchester has got his 5cylinder back together after 5 month,s hard work and it goes and sounds wonderful! (It was the spare car from the 3 I bought from Dave Phillips about 18 months ago fitted with the front subframe from the other Kappa saloon) Now with Donald Smith,s example we have 3 in the Hampshire group plus Barbara Longlands 2year old Ypsilon Red and Black Twin Air Turbo which is great fun to drive even if the quoted mpg figures are a bit of a joke! If anyone else gets one of these Chrysler badged models, I now know where to obtain Lancia badges for except the radiator grille and we are working on this. Keep em rolling. Peter Gerrish
-
Someone was trying to tell me Fiat wasn't what it used to be.
That twin air sounds great, is really willing, fun - no change there.
When driven hard it uses a lot of fuel...no real surprise for all most feel somewhat cheated or miss-sold :-\
However - perhaps a better way to think about it is that they got one over on the tax man ;D
-
A red Fulvia series 1 coupe seen on the A35 just south of Lyndhurst in the New Forest late this afternoon, 24/6, going towards Christchurch. Looked in fine fettle but as in Japanese mode of travel didn't wave!
-
Blue Thema G668VUL heading north on A1 near Ripon last Sunday. Gave him thumbs up but was ignored, probably seeing as I was in the Alfa 75 at the time. First one I've seen on the road in years!

Very nice Flaminia Superleggera at, of all places, a boat show in Henley at the weekend...

Polish registered, in Maidstone

Passed an Aurelia B20 heading in the opposite direction in Liphook, Hampshire this afternoon. It was looking great in a two tone silver and blue colour scheme.
-
Not seen on the road but on my computer while browsing games on steam. In a dubious Japanese game called "beach bounce". But definitely a integrale in the car park.
-
5.30 tonight I saw a dark coloured Monte Carlo (out in the rain) between Sefton and Maghull in Merseyside! Waved from the Alfa 159 Sportwagon but didn't get a response and I didn't spot the reg number going the other way.

Going North on the A40 near Monmouth at 10:30 this morning and on the other carriageway what looked like a S3 Appia in black or dark colour going South. Only got a quick view of it as the carriageways are split at the point I saw it and travelling at 70, so little time to take it in....

. That was Christo going back to Wales after calling in at Didcot to return some Augusta tools. It didn't take him long to get there! Nice little Appia.

Saw the new Guy Richie "Man from Uncle" film over the weekend. A portion of the story is based in Rome and I spotted a couple of Flaminia' (s?) parked on the streets, a berlina and a GT Touring. There may have been more Lancias that I missed if anyone else intends to or has seen the film!

Thanks for confirming that John, I did have my doubts and thought it may just be wishful thinking as first time I have knowingly seen an older Lancia on the road....

A light beige Beta 2000 saloon seen in north Nottinghamshire today; looked like a personal number plate RKY and three numbers, I think.
-
Side of the road in Narbonne today with an "A Vendre" sign - but who would buy it ? Shame to try and pass it off as a Ferrari when the original is more interesting and rarer
-
Saw a very nice Fulvia in red either an S2 or 3 on the A59 nr Harrogate at around 1800 Sunday evening; was so surprised to see one can't remember anything else about it.
-
A Stratos when we were in Lake Como a couple of weeks ago. Group 4 rally style, red with a "co" number plate. I felt obliged to pull over to let him ahead, though could not keep up for long in spite of trying a bit....
-
White Fulvia Coupe with black roof. Possibly LHD with Italian plates? In a driveway in a village east of Ipswich. Couldn't stop, I was in a cycle race.
During the same race I also passed an early sixties Ferrari, not sure of the model, but that was on the road. Given the debate on here about values, I found it heartening that it was getting driven. The cloud of un-burnt petrol fumes I rode through behind it was far preferable to the usual whiff of diesel!

Nice Flaminia Zagato Supersport spotted in a public car park in Cannes a couple of weeks ago.

Dark green?(In shady spot) Integrale parked just outside Bridgnorth as I was taking Beta for sunny end if season spin on Tuesday afternoon. Waves exchanged!

Ypsilon in East Grinstead car park last Friday.
Mike Anderson's lovely gold Flavia 2000 coupe travelling south on the A22 Ashdown Forest on Sunday 2pm.

This topic is a bit of fun.
If you've seen a Lancia around, let everyone know they've been spotted. One day you might even see yourself mentioned!
If any goon was watching the Spike Milligan doc/history the other evening, they are sure to have seen the Lambda PX 1243 outside a "Belgrave Square" type of residence.
-
I am sure I saw a red Integrale near Machynlleth today, rare sight to see any Lancia around here !
-
Not moving but on a road... this lovely RHD Flavia Coupe (injection, no less) parked on Mortimer Road in De Beauvoir town, Hackney N1. Is the owner on this forum?

Beautiful :) I've always wanted one, but unlikely now :(

Me too. Fulvia for noisy casual days, Flavia for suited and booted days. I hope it was parked there temporarily and doesn't live in the rain. Probably not going by its condition. Lovely car.

3rd Series Fulvia Coupé at my local MOT station - not seen it before
Think it passed !

A blue Flavia at Paddock Wood, Kent. A hasty photo, by which time the car was in the mid distance.

Gamma coupe near Meze, Sth of France - not so much "on the road" as rotting gently beside it .....

Hartlepool , today - our ex-president Paul Bishop in his Thema - lookout for him on the M62 tomorrow

Dark blue Flaminia Touring seen today leaving a petrol station in Milton Keynes probably returning from Bicester Heritage brunch though I didn't see it in my brief and very wet visit there. I waved from my Y10 but being rather steamed up I don't think they saw. (Y10 steamed up not me.)

Gracing the roads of north London today – Fulvia S2 Berlina KPD 569K
The proud new owner of this magnificent vehicle, Simon Duval Smith called by today to show it off with a new MOT certificate freshly printed out yesterday. The car looked lovely with its understated 1970s charm, which is a bit compromised now because most people would think it was a Lada, but no matter – the Lancia stylists got there first and Ladas are now a faded memory! Lancia Blue suits this car very well, but currently the almost matt-flat finish is a bit surprising – not so much ‘stealth’ (as in the bomber) because in places it’s almost ‘Anaglypta’ in depth of texture, but I am sure Simon will soon sort this out. Anyway, in the rain it still looks glossy.
The journey north from its previous retirement home in rural Sussex was not without incident. The Sussex cobwebs were well blasted away by the time we got to Kenley, and a few drivers of moderns looked surprised to be outgunned by this elderly blue-box. The look of fear and horror on the face of the back seat passenger in the BMW at Purley was entirely misplaced. He just didn’t understand that when the rear pads had been binding on and boiling off the brake fluid it was inevitable that the following Lancia would have been unable to stop without mounting the kerb and running alongside for a bit – silly man! And it was no use shouting to him that “We have got dual circuit brakes!!!” Anyway, after a hour in the rain at the Shell garage with lots of water and steam to cool it all down, a with a few basic tools to free-off the remains of the pads, Simon had sorted it out and all was plain sailing.
I think KPD is destined for an interesting new life.
Colin
-
Nicely written Colin, still laughing at the alongside driving bit ;D
-
I hear rumblings of discontent and I worry that I might have unintentionally given offence – perhaps I need to correct any false impressions.
When I referred to its previous home as a ‘Sussex retirement home’, this wasn’t to suggest it was a ‘care home’. On the contrary – it was a very fine place to languish for a while in anticipation of a demanding life yet to come. It certainly wasn’t a case of being put out to grass, although the accumulated green algae (which were quite deep in some places) might have nurtured this idea.
Any allegations of hooligan driving on the A22 should be dismissed. It was a bank-holiday weekend and as everyone knows, overtaking on that road needs to be done with care. It wasn’t our fault that the Nissan left his braking so late that he locked-up – Simon knew that all he had to do in the Fulvia was keep on the gas and around it would go. And in that way it was perfectly understandable that Simon wouldn’t know that he had lost the brake pedal until we caught up with that BMW. It doesn’t say much for modern motorists that nobody tried to alert us to the flames and smoke that must have been coming off that rear wheel!
I don’t think I need say any more about the Shell garage at Kenley, but if he is looking for a good Tripadvisor rating he might do better than offer a pair of office scissors by way of tools to help get the wheel-trim off! However, the micro-waved Ginsters were a redeeming feature.
I should also say that the man in the Audi who tried to squeeze us out on the Camberwell Road should have known better than to hold a grudge all the way to Blackfriars Bridge. The fact that Simon held his cool and gave way at the last moment was much to his credit. That was what Lancia motoring is all about.
Colin
-
Thanks for the update Colin, I'm relieved that you made it home and that she's obtained a new MOT. I absolutely hate selling a car to someone I know, especially when it's not been used on the road for thick end of a year. I did offer up a silent prayer as you left me and had a lump in my throat at the sound of the typical Fulvia exhaust note as Simon gunned her up the drive. I was in awe of his cheerful confidence in setting off on the journey with virtually no tools, something I would never be brave enough to do.
So, having admitted my discomfort at selling to a friend (hope we still are Colin and Simon) I'm absolutely delighted that KPD has gone to someone who will love and cherish her. And, that we will all get to see her from time to time, she will always have a special place in mine and Margaret's Lancia memories bank.
Robin.

How wonderful that it has an enthusiastic new home. I look forward to hearing tales of it's new lease of life. Well done for providing a good home Colin.

Red Delta, non turbo, spotted on the M42 while on my way home from Donington yesterday.

Grey 8v Integrale and Red Delta HPE seen over the weekend in Wereham near Downham Market over the weekend but I was visiting Chris Catlow. The Delta HPE goes like stink.

Yellow Integrale Evo nailing it through the road works in Baildon on Monday. Probably the one I used to occasionally see parked at the nearby Post Office.

Fulvia S2 Berlina KPD 569K - enriching the streets of Belgravia today!
KPD didn’t make it to the Goodwood Trackday yesterday, but it was seen and admired in good company today at a somewhat posh gathering of fine cars in Chesham Place Gardens. The photos show how early on it was partnered with a well known Aurelia B24, which is now wearing a ‘Vaticano’ badge suggesting it has received a higher blessing. Later in the morning there were other Italian marques trying to be seen in KPD’s company.
The journey there and back was memorable too – I am sure the startled looks we received from people on the streets and other motorists were simply in admiration.
Colin
-
So unkind of you to post this Colin - I'm missing her even more now! ;D
Margaret used to love taking KPD on shopping trips to Waitrose where, because of her heart problem, she would get young shop assistants to wheel her trolley for her and load the bags into the car. The young lads were astonished when they set eyes on the Fulvia and in the main very complimentary of it and Margaret for driving it.
Sorry you didn't make Goodwood - you were missed, especially as I had the door rubbers etc with me which were left behind when you and Simon collected her.
Robin.
-
Colin - Your adventures in KPD are surely worth their own thread, rather than tagged in cars seen, which some members might not read?

Dark green Augusta Berlina seen at Silverstone today. This was in the Vintage car park at the VSCC Spring race meeting. Lancias were thin on the ground at this wonderful race meeting, but this Augusta looked absolutely right – just as if it had arrived after a long journey and perfectly at one with other exotic machines - including the endearingly eccentric Morgan parked alongside!
Colin
-
Hi Colin, not so thin on the ground at Silverstone yesterday. My car, now registered with DVLA, and suddenly, there was a pair, after being joined by this superb later model.
-
That would have been a good thing to see and I am sorry I missed it - they both look great. I was probably preoccupied with looking at some of the extraordinary machines that turn up at these wonderful VSCC events - like this Hotchkiss, an endurance record breaking car, which actually raced and did very well.
Colin

Owned and raced by Steve Smith of "Vibration Free" - and it sounded (as was to be expected) as smooth as silk!
All the VSCC race results can now be seen at www.theresultslive.co.uk/vintage-sports-car-club This even works as the title suggests - while the race is running, with a 5 second or so delay. The site also shows last years results.

Not sure if this is correctly a 'Lancia cars seen on the road' post, but all the cars in these photos were definitely on the road today and seen touring through the hills and lanes of the Surrey Hills for Drive It day (thanks to Neil Sims for excellent organisation and route plan).
A good range of Lancias from '30s to 80's. My personal favourite (apart from my Flavia Vignale, obviously) was the pale grey Fulvia SII coupe; 30k miles and amazingly original with a lovely cloth interior and perfect factory body gaps and lines.

Belongs to Ron Francis. There was also a very nice red Fulvia Coupe Series One and our Flavia. None of which won a prize, which shows how little some judges know about classic cars.

Saw a Flaminia Touring on the back of a transporter on M40 yesterday heading northwards - did not look in bad nick really in that there was no rusty bits dropping of the bottom.

I know we don't normally report Chrys**r Lancias, but I've seen a couple of interesting ones recently, both red. A Lancia badged Ypsilon (RHD) on the A19 west of Thirsk on 8th July. Then an Ypsilon driving school car in Bradford on Saturday. Never seen one of those before.

Usually when I go out for a 'nice drive in the country' I never see any cars that are interesting, let alone a Lancia.
However, Bank Holiday Monday was different ...... I had just left the Battlesbridge Antique Centre, navigating a roundabout when out popped an Appia ..... so, much to my my wife's amazement and amusement I kept going round the roundabout and followed it ........ back into the Antique Centre. The driver's name is Tony and the car is likely to be for sale in the not too distant future!!!
A late lunch at Writtle and on returning to the car there was an Integrale parked up a few spaces in front of Flavia!! No driver apparent.
Life is strange ...

Yellow Integrale Evo gunning it over Baildon Moor on Thursday evening. I think the driver noticed the Lancia badge on the front of my Ypsilon.
-
Lancia Fulvia 1.3 Series 3 registration OEG422P seemingly in original condition and immaculate, spotted at Tatton Park and numerous other car shows around the North West.
Is this car known to anyone?
-
Not exactly a Lancia sighting but worthy of comment I think. Omicron Motorsport truck passed travelling east on the A421 round the south of Bedford at about 10:45 last night. I wasn't in a Lancia otherwise I would have given them a flash. (No, not like that, with the head lights.)

I am just back from a week in Assisi including a day trip to Rome. Lancias were abit thin on the ground, almost all Ypsilons with a smattering of Musas but I did see a Lybra in Assisi and a couple of Thesis in Rome as well as the Deltas pictured below. I also saw a Chrysler 300 with an peculiar badge on the front.

Red Y10 heading west out of Ripley on B2215 yesterday at about 12 noon. I waved at them from my grey Prisma but I don't think they saw me as they were driving into the sun.

Well the red Y10 wasn't me so I wonder who else has one on the road.

Seen at Race Retro yesterday. Club members?

Delta Martini - yesterday Central London.
Seen on Millbank, Westminster yesterday - looking good in busy traffic. I was slow to get my phone out, by which time it looks like he was about to mow down some people on a zebra crossing, but I am sure this is just an optical illusion!
Colin
-
No illusion I fear Colin. I hope most Lancia people show consideration for pedestrians.
Cesare
-
I suspect in reality he came to a stop on the crossing due to the traffic in front and then the folk came along to cross over. Either way he should have not of course be at a standstill on the crossing, even in Central London.....
Peter

Central London? I thought it was the Promenade des Anglais at first glance. When did palm trees appear in London? Global warming is getting serious!

For a long time Stanley!
It's on the Millbank roundabout near Lambeth Bridge! :)

Very smart Integrale with the Goodwood badge on Chiltern St. W1 yesterday

Did you see what was on the other side of the road in the background? I thought it might be a Mark IX Jag but I'm not sure the top of the radiator grille is right.

I believe it is. It's a US import on its original paint by the look of it - looks all the better for it too

Nuvou Delta (not a Chrysler) on Saltaire Road, Bradford a couple of days ago. Possibly on Polish plates.

A while Fulvia , LHD travelling westbound on the M4 yesterday. It was on foreign plates - no idea from where though ! Maybe en-route to the AGM ?
Anyway, a first spot for ages - nice to see !
-
Wow! Just seen an Artena cross my bows at a set of traffic lights in Mansfield! Pale creamy beige, black wings, red wheels, probably a Stabilimenti Farina drop-head coupe; looked in well-used condition - certainly not a bright and sparkling concourse contender - but couldn't see the registration number, so could have been a foreign tourist - I wonder whether it will turn up at the GM?

LHD Fulvia Coupe seen at Holloway Road, north London this afternoon. Travelling north past the London Metropolitan University building and looking good in fading light. Registration number looks like CON 344M and the colour Marrone. The building in the background is by Daniel Libeskind – not what you might expect to find in this somewhat dreary part of London.
-
And only 1 working brake light!

-
You didn't stop them and tell them they had a light out ??
Does make a dreary day more palatable ....
-
Should have flung a membership flyer at them ;)
-
Oh yes, I noticed the failed rear light as I sprinted after the Fulvia and threw myself onto the nearby number 43 bus, just as the doors were closing. I was fumbling with my membership flyers as I encouraged the driver to take chase, which of course he did, weaving the bus in and out of the rush hour traffic up past the Nags Head junction and onwards, but sadly the Fulvia pulled away from us at Archway and the opportunity was lost. Rest assured it wasn’t a wasted effort and the bus driver took over my stock of LMC leaflets and promised to use them to good effect.
-
They do look sharp among the fat modern cars.
-
Anyone watch "Hunted" on the TV? Should give them some fliers and commission.

I have failed miserably at this... before Christmas I was out walking the toast hound and what did we see parked not 200 yards from my house but a 2008 Delta with Lancia badges!!! of course I had neither a camera or any fliers and when I went back it was gone.

Seen today at 5.30pm driving along the main high street in Warwick (carefully negotiating the speed humps) a nice Beta Coupe in a pale shade of blue. I was walking at the time and it had passed by before I could get a registration number - looked and sounded fantstic though.

Well spotted Richard! That screen sticker refers to the Flavia and 2000 Consortium’s event in the Covent Garden Piazza in 2003 – an event that took place there because of 2000HF owner David Bieda’s influence with Covent Garden. It was the success of this event that gave David and his team of helpers the confidence to go ahead with the larger centenary event in 2007. How time flies!

750 mile road trip to Liverpool and Birmingham open days - this morning we spotted a deep red Evo heading south on the A41, perhaps a bit south of Chester but can't quite remember. Early afternoon a white 1600 Beta Coupe we chased down the M6 tollroad, or "Midland Expressway" as I prefer to know it.

K reg red Integrale (K***SAB) on A36 at Woolverton, heading towards Bath around 16.50 today.
-
Woke up over the weekend in one of those 'Who am I? Where am I? Why is the tv on? Why is it 2 o'clock in the morning?' moments and there on the screen was a lovely dark Flaminia Berline driving into a fuel station. The film was called 'Psyche 59' and it's on Talking Picures again tonight (30/7). The scene was in the UK, it was RHD and UK registered. I think the reg plate was visible a couple of times so be interested to know if it's still around. That's all I saw before I staggered off to bed but it's on earlier tonight so will try to catch it again.

In the UK people have been blaming such moments on the heat.

Well, it was the principal male character's car registered 180 FXB which isn't a registration that is known to me. It was a right hand drive series 2 and from the registration a pre 1963 car. The interior light above the rear window is the give away in the first shot and there is quite a long sequence of shots involving the car. There is nice gear change action with the column change too.

2 x Lambda open body, Mike Guest and Colin Wise.
An Aurelia B10, forgot who the owner is.
My Fulvia 2c Berlina (Fay). I also saw an integrale in Princes a Risborough, but not sure if he was at the event.
I'm surprised how few Lancia Members attend the weekend, it's with in easy reach of North London and good access from the M25.
If you apply and are accepted then on the day, whichever is allocated, you get two untimed runs on the hill, a public highway, which is closed for the weekend in aid of charities, but still subject road traffic regulations. At the briefing this is pointed out, and requested that if you have an on board camera, you don't show your speedo!
The cost is a very reasonable £45 that includes 1 passenger, Rally plaque and a run up the hill in the morning and the afternoon.
This year we were asked if we had spare seat or two, to donate them, the donor hands over a donation, puts their hand in a box and pull out a model car, this has a number on the bottom that relates to a specific car, and that's the one you get a run in, no swaps are allowed, I took a lady, her daughter age 11 and her son age 8, along with my two Dachshund, and a great time was had by all with the children in the back waving like crazy to all the onlookers, up the hill and on the way back through Princes Risborough to the paddock.
If you aren't picked, or you don't wish to run the hill, then you book and pay in advance, and park in the Display area.
The Brookland Napier Railton ran the hill, along with Austin seven, many old motorbikes, BMW electric Spyder, a chain gang Fraser Nash, a Steyr Puch 500, and many many more.
So please join us next year.
If we can get enough Lancia's we can have our own spot.
Finally at 6.05pm, a Black Chrysler Delta that had just come off the South Bound M1 at Junction 12,Toddington, that the BBC have after 50 years decided to call Flitwick, which is 2 miles, with another village in Between in the opposite direction to Toddington, that is only half a mile away.

On Thursday 13 September we were on a Great Rail trip to Italy. After emerging from a boring tour of the Ducal Palazzo in Mantova, Eileen suddenly said "Look, there's an Aprilia"
We left the group and found that cars were arriving for the GRAN PREMIO NUVOLARI. This annual 1000km tour was being held 14-16th and a full list of the 312 starters can be found on their website (very few British entries but lots of Lancias). Sadly we couldn't stay for the start on Friday.

No, I don’t think the empty barrels stacked up at the side were for the fuel he used to get to Albania and back.
Yes, the shiny covers on the lower parts of the sliding pillar units are unusual.
No, I don’t know what the brass bell hanging in the centre of the track rod is for!

Not sure yet. It was running fine as I approached J14 and then the water temp gauge went to the stop. It was in the roadworks and I had little choice but to coast/drive it to a gap in the steel fencing. Almost no coolant in it but no blown hoses/obvious leaks.. I was recovered off the motorway where the AA turned up about 10 isn and refilled it. Ran it back up to temperature and it chucked the lot out of the expansion cap when he loosened it. He'd checked the water for evidence of gasses but that was ok (phew) so the diagnosis is failed thermostat/weak radiator cap/iffy water pump or fan belt.
Relay truck arrived at 11.30, home at 1.30. Spent a few hours trying to track down a thermostat for an Alfa 164 12v without much luck until I found a German supplier of an insert for the housing. Rad cap was much easier. Now I have to remove the fan belt to measure it and get another one ordered. After that it'll be a case of run it up to temp again on the driveway and see what happens.
Should be an easy fix, just frustrated it happened today.
The drive down to Silverstone Historic on the hottest day of the year was scary as it ran hot all the way down but no ill effects from that, fine all weekend and fine on the way home too.
Sorry I missed the second Fulvia! Probably missed others too!

Where to?
It's going up near York with the new owner Richard, spares car for his Berlina that I welded and painted for him a couple of years ago. There'll bsa few spares off it though which will help to keep other cars going.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be once on the trailer, arches and sills have gone and it's long since it had a rear panel to speak of but it'll yield some good spares.
Front subframe for starters looks very good.

Hi Brian.
I must confess that I got there a bit late due to the roadworks on the A1 & A14, took me an hour longer than anticipated so by the time I'd got there Richard and Frank had made good progress clearing a path and fitting pumped up rear tyres once the brakes had been freed up.
With the rears off the axle stands we managed to rock it out of the garage quite easily, surprisingly it rolled quite well and we got it around to the road without drama, even missed the fish pond!
Hopefully another thing off Marys mind although I don't envy the task of clearing the rest up.
If I'd have used the Y10 a bit before now I'd have liked to have taken it down there for a ride but on reflection a 200 mile round trip with the trafic delays maybe would have been asking for trouble

Pleased it turned out much more do-able than I thought it might be, at least we can now get in to see what else there is.
I don't suppose Richard wanted the Coupe front and rear axles? which are free to anyone who wants to dig them out and take them away, Frank and myself did the heavy work of clearing the jungle and trees last year!
Would have nice for Mary to have seen what a great job you've done to their old Y10, and looks now like it did when I first met them.

Lada Niva's were a very potent off roader without the Beta twin cam, but a bit agricultural!

Red Aurelia B20 seen travelling North toward Nettlebed on the B481 at about 08:30.

I was filling up with fuel at my local petrol station (in Yate) when this little Y10 pulled in. First Lancia I've seen out & about in years!

Checked the registration number against lancia owners and their cars from 1994, up to the latest one in 2017 and this has never been shown as belonging to a LMC] member.
However the number has bells ringing in what grey cells I have left! And they jangle in the direction of a young lady who lived i think around Newport South Wales, who belonged to the Bristol group, as I did in the 1990's, but I could be wrong.

Photos sent to me by my son in the Oval area this week in London, not a club registered Fulvia, a 1972 Fulvia with early badges and S1 wheels?

I live about a quarter of a mile from that car and have seen it a few times. I love its rat look.

Seen in Pimlico last month. I think a daily driver.

Beta Coupé 1600 near me this morning - must have had a good drive because it's from Toulouse 1.5 hrs away
Lovely to see a Beta Coupe in use in January.
I was very impressed (and so surprised I did not take in all the details) to be passed by an elegant little Fulvia in Central London (Bloomsbury Square, near the British Museum, heading west) at about 07:45 yesterday morning in freezing temperatures (my modern Alfa's thermometer did not rise above 0 degrees). The exhaust note of the Fulvia was a joy to hear. Was any LMC member making that trip?

I am about to take my Beta 1600 Coupe out of the barn. I promise to jetwash it underneath afterwards. Ziebarting from new was such a good idea - thanks Mrs Garland.

Just noticed this, it’s a GTie masquerading as a Turbo. I owned this one many years ago, and I’m in touch with the current owner who bought a Y10 Turbo from me last year to restore
-
Just had a chat with the owner of the Y10. He’s also transferred the engine, box and other important bits from the Turbo into the GTie. One interesting point is the engine which powered Peter and Hilary White’s Y10 in the 1993 RAC Rally. I ran this engine for a while, was very peaky for a Turbo engine in what became the Yntegrale.
The owner has kept the original B reg shell which was 1 number off that of the road test car back in the day, needs a lot of welding underneath despite looking quite ok elsewhere
Should be a nice car, aside from running nearer 140bhp than 85bhp, also gas uprated suspension and brakes. Proper little sleeper

Having seen a Fulvia back in January and nothing since (and 'lockdown' restrictions frustratingly keeping me separated from my Flavia) I was enormously cheered up today to see what I think is the same Fulvia on my journey to work this morning. It is gunmetal grey and LHD and a Series 3 Fulvia, reg.CDM 544M. It was travelling west to east into central London. I spotted it on Wigmore Street (also about 07:45), followed it for a bit on Oxford Street (temporary diversion), then lost sight of it at Tottenham Court Road where I was held at a red light. It looked to be in great condition (at least seen from the rear). Is it, or has it been, a LMC member's car?
-
Musa on Italian plates followed me up through my village of Ashurst Wood on school run I think. Probably gave the driver a shock as I was in my recently acquired Chrysler Delta now badged as a Lancia! More on that later. :)

Seen, admired and photographed in a pub car park today - not by me, but by a daughter who knew I would be impressed and sent it on.
-
That is my car. I was having lunch with my 83 year old Mum. The pub is the very excellent Fox and Hounds at Christmas Common, up on the Chiltern Escarpment above Watlington in South Oxfordshire. The pub is run by a cool German called Reiner who likes cars.
That is a very good photo of the car. I think that I may have seen your daughter - was she out for a hike with a good looking chap? Two walkers arrived just after I parked the car, and we all waited in the sunshine for a few minutes for the pub to open.
-
Yesterday seen between Repton and Willington (Derbyshire) coming towards us a black Fulvia saloon. We were in Flavia Sport getting daughter Georgina reacquainted with car before taking it for a holiday in N Wales. Slight apprehension as only did 50 miles in last 2 years!

Saw a white Flavia 2000 or Hf pass by our house in Margaretting at the weekend.
Not GMV 8 N or similar, another one.

Nothing new to report on the Augusta - it worKs!

Saw a black Chrysler Ypsilon ('12' registered) yesterday on the A60 north of Mansfield - I think that's the first one I've ever seen 'in the wild'.

Today at about 13:00 saw Lancia Blue 2000 Coupe - TLR 290M driving East on A27 between Arundel and Worthing. Looks very smart. Gave a friendly wave as I went by but as I was in a Volvo probably not noticed!

Could it be a Lybra if it's an estate? Or do you mean a Delta 3?

More likely a Dedra SW

Frank Tierney has a metallic Green one that is being worked on so of the road, I wasn't aware of another Dedra SW, in the UK?
To the best of my knowledge a Delta 3

today, Lancia Fulvia Berlina - I think dark blue [Lancia Blue?]. A39 in Cornwall, heading NE towards Wadebridge / Bristol / well near anywhere in the UK. Going fast [in the opposite direction - at closing speed of c 110 mph, sadly little time to admire] - looked in fine condition, with a tail-up stance. Couldn't see the rear, no idea what series / 2C ?

If all the headlamps were the same size then it was a series 1,did you notice if it was Lh or Rh drive?
It could have been a 2c, GT or Gte, if the outer lamps were were larger than the inners it would have been a series 2.

Another Fulvia berlina, this time at the Yeovil Car Club meet at Haselbury Mill yesterday evening.
New owner Martin bought it online, car originally from the south of France. Nice to see another one on the road.

This nice integrale turned up at my Local pub meet (Shillington Classics in Bedfordshire) but I didn't find the owner. Further enquiries will be perused.

Seen at the Historic event at Prescott today. V6 (B10 engine I think) with supercharger mounted on top. Inboard drum brakes and Alfa front suspension. Only one made, apparently by an ex-Lancia engineer.
Sounded great!

That’s a stunner Richard and the perfect weather for Prescott.

This cracking 2000ie HPE was at the monthly Lakeland Historic Car Club meet this morning at the Lakeland Motor Museum, Newby Bridge. Sorry we missed the owner, I accosted someone wearing a tee shirt with a Beta Coupe on the front but not his car and he didn’t own any Lancia’s anymore. We were there with our Fulvia, perhaps catch up at another meet later in the year. Cheers Simon and Debbie

Beta coupe spotted on Sunday at the Italian Car Day at Henstridge aerodrome, organised by the BAD Abarth group.

Great to see a few nice Lancia’s at the Boxing Day gathering on the Green at Sarratt. All were red, must have something to do with the time of year! A Fulvia, Montecarlo and Delta Integrale. We had a good chat with Howard & Nicole, the Fulvia owners and hope to see them next year at the GNW, we also met the Montecarlo owners briefly but apologies I failed to catch any names.

If I hadn't got family commitments I could have added another red Lancia. Is the Delta quattro the five cylinder version? ;D

A smart French-registered Lancia Musa on the move in Chichester this week. No photo unfortunately. In a dark colour (grey or black?).
Also spotted a lot of Ypsilons, quite a few Musas, and fewer Deltas while in the Napoli area in late March. Saw one bigger Lancia but it looked as it if it had been sat in the same spot for some time.

Not exactly on the road but broken down in our (Icom UK) carpark in Beltinge (Herne Bay) 8v Integrale with a duff alternator this morning. Spoke to the owner briefly, he stumbled his way into the carpark probably aiming for Sainsburys as a good place for recovery, but a failing battery and struggling fuel pump just couldn't manage it. So expired next to my Abarth 595 competizione at a jaunty angle. Was the LMC membership sticker in my windscreen's hidden tracker function activated or just the cars natural homing instinct to seek out the nearest LMC member? When a colleague walk's in and says there's a Lancia broken down in the carpark you naturally think it's just another windup! So I told the owner I'm sure it will be fine, then the lowloader arrives plus trailer and starts shunting around the crowded carpark. The MD, rightly concerned for everyone's cars, protested 'you can't do that here', then relented 'but because of what it is, put it in the yard and you can do what you like there'. Not bad, recognition in a company of Porsche, Audi and BMW enthusiasts. Well Bob the MD does have a Ducati and a 500 runaround. So whats the chances? I see Integrales once in a blue moon and I only work there part time. Shame I didn't get a photo as it exited left on the trailer. Not a great look though, 'oh look Marks out there with one of his Lancia mates broken down', oh well!

With only one sighting of a Lancia on the road this year I feel I have to record this one. A smart red Beta Coupe seen in Downton, south of Salisbury, heading for the New Forest this morning. Being the only Lancia in the village I flashed my lights at him but, alas, my Musa is not easily recognised.
