Looks like an NEC Lancia delivery/pickup roadtrip is on the cards for me again this year. Very exciting - finally something to add to the now unlikely challenge of having a Fulvia 2C for the Fulvia 50th in 2013 .... http://www.forum.lanciamc.co.uk/index.php?topic=4238.0 (http://www.forum.lanciamc.co.uk/index.php?topic=4238.0)
In case anyone missed it (or if it hasn't been posted here already), club discounts available for Sat/Sun at the show website www.necclassicmotorshow.com and, as advertised in VL last month the "code" to quote for the discount is 2012SC (single) or 2012FC (family) - probably no state secret by the look of them!
-
An eclectic range of Lancias has been assembled by Stuart for this year's NEC.
From Theta to Thesis this shows Lancia innovation over the century(s!).
Also on the stand will be a March Augusta, 16v Integrale, Appia Forgoncino, and a Fulvia Monte-Carlo.
Get your tickets now!!
-
You lucky people. I went to Motorclassica in Melbourne last week. Meh. We could do with an NEC Show equivalent down here - there are enough old motors knocking about...
-
I will announce the list of cars on the stand in the next couple of weeks....
Well it seems that there is no longer any need for me to make an announcement as Tim has already done it for me. >:(

OOPs sorry Stuart. Wasn't trying to steal your thunders and did not register your earlier promise to the forum.
Its a great selection of great Lancias though and hopefully we can get some good PR out of it. Well done!!

:o unless theres been a change of plans the integrale will be an 8v.
-
Don
Maybe some wires got crossed as I was only passing on information. I am sure you may be right so please could someone organising confirm??
Tim
-
a few extra valves would be no harm to release any pressure build-up around the stand
-
:o unless theres been a change of plans the integrale will be an 8v.
...... and the "forgoncino" will probably be a furgoncino.
F U or F O ; not much difference !
-
Martin
Nothing should be forgone in Lancia land.....
Don
Your 8v is the one I believe mistakenly identified by ano as a 16v!!

Friday was very busy. I have included pictures some of which will appear in Retro-Speed, they have been reduced to small size to avoid copyright infringement which automatically covers our photo archive. High res versions are available on request. Apologies if this sounds pompous.
-
Nice NEC photos!! Very AF ;D
Did you know what the Gamma (Silver or Gold hard to see?) went for?
Tim
-
The auction takes place this afternoon. Full details of cars including the lhd Gamma and Beta at www.silverstoneauctions.com. The lighting at NEC is appalling and I apologise on their behalf for the poor image quality. Even with the Canon pumped up to 6400 and a 2.8 70/200 lens everything looks as though it's taken in the desert!

Peter,
I don't even bother attempting to get decent photos at the NEC these days, as you say, terrible lighting.

Will be out there in about an hour...looking forward to seeing them in the flesh and meeting a few of you...:)

Lin and I will be there about midday. Could be more light as it's not overcast.

The LMC Stand plus the Betaboyz and the the Montecarlo stands were, as ever, excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed my day (yesterday).
It was good to meet so many people and especially Frank (Parisien) as we mused over the technicalities and pitfalls in restoring an Aurelia.
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who made it happen.

Gamma sold for £5K

Andy.....not only was I surprised to see you there, but truly delighted. Also meeting Peter, Derek, Don, Diane, and Ben, by way of introduction was very good of you. Spending time in Don Cross's company was indeed inspirational......the LMC is a very blessed club in having such wonderful members! The effort involved in thinking up, putting up and manning the stand, is no mean feat and I take my hat off to all involved.
The selection of cars on the stand was fabulous......bar the lack of anything Aurelia related.
This had been my first time at the NEC Clasic car show and it was very worthwhile.
Will stick up a few pics later......once again, a big thanks to all who put in their time and enthusiasm on behalf of the LMC

Frank,
It's a general problem with Lancia - there are too many models ! It's a good thing but no matter what is on the stand , you'll never cover it all ... :)
-
I'm being selfish...Steve.... ;D...but having seen a few B20s in the flesh......they are so easy on the eye......and I would say a model of the Lancia range which would draw more members of the public to our stand.
I don't know the ins and outs of what space we are allocated or why, but we have way more interesting plus pertinent cars than lots of the mundane marques on display.
I am still on that vertiginous learning curve guys..........its about 10000 metres in height and I'm at 1.5 metres!!!!

My efforts with the camera....

Aurelias usually get their fair share of space on the stand at the NEC and it's unfortunate that they didn't feature this year, but as Steve said we have a lot of models that are interesting, so with the space limitations it's just one of those things.
"You can please some of the people all of the time, You can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time" or something like that ;)

Frank
The space is allocated by the organisers, they base it on size of club and their perception of the popularity (crowd pulling potential) of the cars.
You only had to walk thruogh th "Ford" hall to see where they are comming from, also some clubs are heavily supported by manufacturers which has considerable influence.
In spite of this because of the consistant quality of our stands we get more space than some other clubs of a simmilar or even bigger size. There was another Italian car club close by that has more members but gets a stand no bigger than ours.
As others have said the selection of cars can never please all our members with over 100 years of production to choose from.
Don
-
Thanks for that Don....personally I think we should have had a whole hall to ourselves.......could have brought the restoration project along!
I wasn't displeased Don.......always interesting to see all the models and variations...:)

Well done - I couldn't make it to the NEC this year, but from the pictures, the variety of cars on display looked fantastic! - No other club can show quite the variety - and the quality - of cars that the LMC can. Again, well done to everyone who took the trouble to bring a car to the show
-
As always I'm the last to post photos :)
Great weekend! arrived Thursday morning to help set up the Beta display, spent 4 days at the show
and enjoyed every minute :D only heard the R word 3 times.
On the Beta stand the most asked questions I heard were: where can I buy one of these, and how much would I have to pay for one of these ;D
Great to see the LMC/Monte's and Beta's together again, all flying the Lancia flag
here is a small selection of the 100 plus picture I've uploaded to Flickr

Great pics...thank you.
Loved the opening, bare floor aspect.....was the Stig Italian??!!

That early Beta interior is the photo for me.

.....was the Stig Italian??!!
Looks like he has been eating all the complimentary crisps on his way round all the halls!!!
-
Excellent pictures Tony (as always)
-
:) excellent coverage in Classic Car Weekly including 3 photos.
-
Great memories - thanks to all. I always remember the incredible transformation from empty hall to show - nearly all from voluntary effort and clubs. Now, if we could organise something similar in Australia... We have the cars, but I'm not so sure we have the venue - and we have to deal with the tyranny of distance.
-
Just to say in the Classics car mag they stated the Appia consortium van was bought by a group of enthusiasts, assume this was sometime ago and not recently or even sold at the show...its not clear
P
-
No, that was when it was acquired. It is still owned by a consortium of people so far as I know. I doubt the Appia Consortium would ever let it go willingly out of their hands!
-
My feeling regarding the improbability of the Appia Consortium relinquishing ownership of the vehicle is that at least one existing shareholder would want to buy it outright!! Probably there would be several non shareholders that would love to have a chance to own it.
That van, I am confidant, will never stray far, if at all, from the Consortium or the Club.
