Not sure what to advise about chimney fire but for your bbq I'd think you'd be better with a fire blanket (like you might / should have in your kitchen?), cheaper for single use than the firestick.

I've never been a member or accessed a Forum before joining the club.  I can now see and appreciate the benefits in the sharing of knowledge, information and ideas.

I will be purchasing a Fire Stick for the house, as in the past the BBQ got a little out of control, and we also had a chimney fire when a nest went up in flames.

Thank you all!

For the record I used Cohline on the Spider in 2021 and no noticeable degradation so far. I have mainly used E5 however.

As @peteracs says, R9 specification is what you need as it has a quantifiable low permeation rating (15g/m2/day) so is ideal for long term E5/10/15 usage.  I believe that to meet the spec, the hose requires at least a secondary FKM inner layer, in combination with the standard NBR outer that lesser grade hoses are made from completely. Other layers may also be used. I'd be wary of any auction site hose that claims to be R9 but is all NBR. If you stick to the offerings of the three main players you'll be fine i.e. Cohline, Codan or Gates.

Hi Simon

Also curious what brand of hose you used and the spec (R9 compatible?)

Simon, did you replace with the same "resistant" type hose, or an upgrade?

Posted on Fulvia, because more people look at this page than any other (? controversial ?) and because it was on my berlina, however this will apply to many of our cars

Using the GT berlina for a French rally tomorrow, so took her out of the garage earlier and could smell petrol ..... looked underneath where my starting pump is mounted and all the petrol pipes were cracked and there was a leak.

I replaced these with new, supposedly Ethanol-friendly pipes less than 2 years ago but they have just not lasted. Checked the others under the bonnet and same thing

All replaced again from fresh stock of pipes, but a reminder to everyone to check the fuel pipes regularly because with this evil ethanol petrol, they don't last like they used to !!

PS I also carry a firestick-type extinguisher

I have mounted a Firestick under the glovebox with the clip provided it is easily accessible but discreetly hidden too, if that helps you find a suitable location to mount it.

Thanks everyone for your replies, all very informative.  I will probably go with drilling the panel and inject some form of protection before installing the bracket / extinguisher.  When I need to replace the extinguisher, if I can't get it refilled / re-pressurised, I will go with the Fire Stick option.
