Flaminia / Re: Gear selection shaft dust boot

It just seems to have just been gummed up. I'm assuming the selector forks weren't returning properly to neutral which was blocking selection of the next gear. The plungers and balls needed a bit of soaking with WD40 before I could extract them for cleaning. The car has only done about 150 miles since restoration prior to 2018 and could have been standing for years before that.

Fulvia / Cromodora 6 x 14 Fulvia Series 2 Advice please
« Last post by mikerowe on 16 May, 2026, 08:53:28 AM »
Hello again

Like a lot of Fulvia owners, I'm looking for a set of Cromodora 6 x 14 for my Fulvia Series 2.

Looking to buy either new, heavier ones or older, lighter ones that need a refurb if someone is selling a set.

If anyone has any experiences of how the car drives after fitting the Cromodoras or any other advice,  I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

Mikey Rowe

Hi Frank
Did you find anything wrong or was it the gummed up selector balls and springs

Fulvia / Re: Peter Pompiliis Zagato JHT 909L camshaft timing issue

All sorted, they did turn out to be standard cams, measured at 270 degrees pretty close to 273 degrees considering the accessibility. So I timed them up as standard and the car runs much better, no backfiring and more like my 1600 engined S3 coupe when it comes to over run noises. Not sure why they were so far out, maybe Peter was experimenting with timing or just timed them in haste. Anyway no harm done and it's only taken 25 years to find. Hopefully the next 25 years will be just as reliable, though I may need a lifting frame by the age of 92, the car seems to get lower everytime I get out of it these days! Thanks for the advice.

Flavia / Re: 815 Coupe interior heater

Hello
I have a very noisy fan in the heater box assembly by the footwell. It squeals.
does anyone have experience in taking the unit apart to get at this fan, servicing it or indeed replacing it?
Maybe the job is a can of worms requiring lots of effort with a very little return?
If anyone has an exploded view or photographs of this heater box assembly then I would very much appreciate if they would post them onto the forum.
Kind regards

Colin

I've got the boot replaced and the gearbox is working passably now. I had some fun with reassembly by fitting some seemingly inconsequential external parts in the wrong sequence. Three parts later I found out I was short of a vital eighth of an inch to insert a bolt! Still, it gave me lots of practice at disassembly and reassembly.

It did seem a strange story, on the one hand the volume of requests they must put through makes you thankful we’re not in the days of local offices

On the other hand, maybe the sellers want to discourage their customers chasing them every few days🤔

Whichever, currently only 2.5 weeks into the process. Frustrated that we can’t check the MOT status online when it will be done on a VIN number - not that we remembered to take note of the VIN number 😵‍💫
