Ypsilon HF Ibrida

As many will know, Lancia France has started to open new concessionaires and are promoting the Ypsilon - the only new Lancia available. It only comes as either hybrid (Ibrida) or full EV

Juliet (my wife) has decided to replace her Mini (JCW All 4) with an Ypsilon. She tried a variety of cars - Peugeots, Citroen (we are in France !), Alfa, FIAT 600, Mini Cooper etc etc, and the one that has ticked more boxes than the others is the Ypsilon

She has gone for the Ibrida because where we live , full EV is not an option ( à discuter !) with the HF trim - she loves the Elephants !

The 280 Ch EV HF is the fire-breathing monster, but it doesn't go very far ..... plus it's too low to get into the vineyards, so she has gone for its HF looks and adequate performance. I will miss the Mini ( very integrale characteristics) but it's a good compromise and a great alternative to the Defender for local stuff

It looks great in the Lava Red with black roof ......

The only problem is that Mathilda is a bit miffed because she "only" has the old Ypsilon !

The "HF" arrived at the beginning of the week and after a few trips Juliet said today "I love my Ypsilon" .... can't ask for more than that !

Of course it's not an HF in the true sense, but it is nippy

I will do a full road test for VL, but my first impressions are also very favourable. Styling is great, it drives remarkably well and it's distinctive, and I love the colour - it changes with the weather

It's not perfect - slightly disappointing rear compartment and is overly prescriptive (it tells you that you are going too fast, too close to the white line, it's too "automatic"), however it is a modern car with all the obligatory gizmos.  And the biggest surprise was the lack of spare wheel and tool kit "it's an accessory" even though there's the space and the clamp ! So for 200€ extra I have bought that

This one is the hybrid- still getting my head around that, mainly because I'm 61 and like pêtrol- so we are hoping for decent fuel consumption. I am sure that it is like many other new cars

BUT IT HAS A LANCIA BADGE ON THE FRONT (and on the back , on the sides on the dash , on the headlights ....)

That's a great looking car for sure, very similar to the Alfa Junior, does it have the same Puretec Stellantis engine that's in the Alfa along with several others? Be sure to keep using the exact oil if so, the wet belt doesn't appreciate poo quality oil!

Very similar body style to the Alfa, same specs too. I was very tempted with buying a new Junior recently but settled on a used Stelvio, never had a brand new car, a new Lancia would be very tempting!

I'm going to start saving my pension up! Christmas visit to the UK possibly? The colour is fab. I have a hybrid with a 1800 petrol engine and the gizmo on the dash tells me it is doing 68-72mpg

I wonder if anyone can help with finding me an email address that I can enquire about, in the wild hope that they may consider returning to the UK?
I've tried on several variations of Stellantis websites to find a contact email without success, unless I am waiting to make a complaint! I know it's a long shot but you never know, I don't want to call the call centres as I'll probably get the usual blank reply.

Why not buy one here ? You could get it ex vat (TVA) and then pay the duties and UK vat - Ends up being about 10% more I think

Kevin the last conversation I had with Stellantis UK Comms Director sain Lancia was not on any future plans to come to the UK but if there is a ground swell from Simon writing a really good article in VL (!) I will see if we can change his mind (he reads VL....).

If I could get on with LHD Simon, I would. I've driven plenty over the years at work but they seem alien to me, I appreciate people saying that you get used to it but I'd rather not.
Saying that though if no RHD becomes available then in a few years they'd make a great used purchase....
Just I've never bought a brand new car, never really been in a position to and having been in the garage trade all my working life (40+ years) I know only too well the depreciation cost, but having driven plenty of other peoples new cars it'd be nice to actually have one myself!

I did consider buying a new Alfa Junior fairly recently but a Lancia would be almost impossible to resist!
Simons car looks great and it will be nice to hear his thoughts on the car in time, or by the sounds of it his wifes view. Nice to hear that it's not completly over for the brand even if there has been a few false starts over the last 20 or so years...
