Monthly meetings in the Thames Valley/Chilterns area
« on: 07 August, 2025, 10:54:10 AM »
Has anyone ever given any thought to organising a monthly meet in the Thames Valley or Chiltern Hills area? If not, are there many/any other Lancia enthusiasts who might be interested in starting up or participating in a regular monthly meet?
Thanks,
Alan

The membership secretary may be able to provide a list of members in your region so help you contact likely people.

From running the struggling Herts and Beds group in the past I reckon you need a core of about half a dozen committed members to keep something running. Unfortunately not all members are enthused by the idea of a monthly meet up and finding a time and place that suits the maximum number of those who are interested is fraught with difficulty.

Having said that I wish you every success in the venture. Maybe put something in Viva Lancia.

Thanks very much for your advice Frank, particularly bearing in mind your past experience in running the Herts and Beds group. Finding a venue should not be too much of a problem as we have a lovely country pub nearby to Princes Risborough who are very amenable to local classic car groups/clubs who want to hold a meet there. They also have a happy hour most evenings during the week, so that might attract a few more Lancia enthusiasts. However I appreciate the other potential difficulties involved with organising a regular, say monthly, meet. Nevertheless, there's probably no harm in putting our toe in the water, as it were, to see if there are many Lancia enthusiasts in the area who might be interested.

Alan I have taken the liberty of giving Jon Ragick membership secretary a heads up on your behalf. Using email lists and also when it starts evolving using Whatsapp to communicate keeps things moving along. Good luck. And yes if you get something going you need it in the monthly meets info on inside back cover (printed every other month)
Its not the winning but taking part! or is it taking apart?

Yes, thank you Tim, I'm aware that you have. Jon has already been in touch with me by email to discuss and offer some help/support, but as I have said to Jon, I was just posing the question about whether anyone might be interested, or whether there has been any interest in the idea in the past. I'm certainly not going to launch into any serious proposal about the idea at any time soon - that would be sheer folly.
Regards,
Alan

I am afraid the forum is not read by many members so I was suggesting a more proactive approach. Maybe a middle ground is to put an announcement in VL? Obviously if you do not want to lead on this it becomes a bit difficult until another volunteers….
