Tyre pressures
« on: 08 July, 2025, 04:07:52 PM »
This is a basic question. What are the recommended tyre pressures? The manual states  18.5 psi front and 21.3 psi rear but of course this for the old X ply tyres, I am guessing 30/32?
I had to buy two new tyres today and can really recommend North Hants Wheels and tyres in Aldershot. They had two Dadar classic 155/80 R15 in stock for £66 each including VAT, fitting and balancing. If you are reasonably near Aldershot then it it worth going there. One warning: they only do loose wheels.

With modern tyres made with a different mix and structure it is suggested 2 bar front and rear.

I find that about 25psi in front and back gives the smoothest ride on mine (that's with Nankang NA1 tyres).

Thanks for that Dave, I found with 30/32 the ride was very hard. I will try lowering the pressures

In general, the Appia and Aurelia both do better with lesser tire pressures than most like to fit - more akin to 25psi than 30 (which most shops like). When you get the pressure just right, the ride is sublime, never hard. Carefully engineered.

Mine set to 25/25 now and the ride has been transformed. Thanks for the heads up.
