Replace electric window motor
« on: 10 May, 2026, 06:48:10 AM »
I need to change a non functioning electric window motor on my 1973 2000 sedan. I have taken off the door card but can't see  how to access the motor. Has anyone managed this task and can give me guidance.
Thanks in anticipation.

Not sure but I think you may need to take the door window out. Is the system a cats cradle of wire cable or the more modern wire gear in a tube?
Its not the winning but taking part! or is it taking apart?

Looks like the more modern system - unlike the 2000hf which is all cables etc!

Justin, the windows in my 2000hf suddenly wouldn't go down past half way. The garage guys sorted it a few months back and made a short video of the repair...it shows the inner working of the door for about 15 seconds, might help but it doesn't show the motor. The windows had stopped going down fully because the cables were getting stuck on the bent rail inside. If you want me to send the video let me know.
