Very interesting your heater position. I did the opposite. I left the (6 Volt) battery in situ and installed the heater under the driver's seat. It's made of a heat ex changer from an old Bosch heater fitted in a steel box with ducts. The fan is driven off the 6 -12 volt converter and wired for 2 speeds using a 3 position switch.
The water pipes are run from the front of the radiator inside the R/H frame to under the seat. Doesn't  need a pump.

Thanks Kari. Nice installation. I was motivated by memories of winter driving in our last vintage saloon with ice on both the inside and outside of the screen so I was more focused on dealing with that rather than keeping warm.
Luckily there is a Smiths heater (a Beaulieu find) that fitted the battery box perfectly
I have fitted vents in the top of the dash and taken the water supply from the top and bottom hose connection to the block. The existing aluminium castings were both rotten so I had to make more anyway and I included the necessary take off.
Fitting the air hoses to the vents was only practical because I had everything stripped and those bits went in first, it would be very difficult to retro fit.
Some photos show the result, it works well but as we may not get such harsh winters in the future it might all have been a waste of time?
