Most of the engine bay is now stripped of the old underseal and years of crud, a few areas needed repair and previous repairs were uncovered.
The battery tray has a rather nicely made bracket holding up one side but was rivtted on so that has been cleaned and welded on, the other side was welded up and another bracing bracket made and fitted.
Wedling repairs to both lower forward legs done, likewise the remaining box section at the subframe mount got a patch made and welded in.
I'm torn between doing the engine bay in a similar vein to the original crackle type finish, primed and then done with stonechip covering then matt black painted over that will look fairly original. The other option is to sand it and paint it as in body colour.
I favour the simpler and quicker original look. Plus I have yet to decide on body colour! Although I could just leave it in primer for now.
Time is still being hard to find for one thing or another, the 1969 Mini Traveller is taking my time plus building a garage for my lad Rob, integrale had a bit of maintenance to do and work is also getting complicated but now I know for sure the proposed redundancy is happening then I can make plans, with a view to freeing up more time to get my own cars sorted out.
