Y10 Turbo imported from Europe - need some parts
« on: 10 March, 2026, 08:07:21 AM »
Hi all,

Haven't owned a Y10 for about 15 years but I have had several different versions in the past. Having a bit of a midlife crisis and I've just acquired a LHD Turbo, so now looking for some bits and pieces to get it back on the road..

First job is the RHD certificate for which I need RHD headlamps and a speedometer showing MPH.

If anyone has any advice on the process of importing and registering that would be helpful too - for example will I have any issues with the fact it's an Autobianchi on the paperwork?

Many thanks in advance,

Jim

Well done! First get a dating letter from the club if you want to get the Y10 UK registered then you can send that to the DVLA for a UK registration, contact Neil Priestman : dvla@lanciamc.co.uk, to arrange an inspection. Without that club letter you may not be able to register the car in the UK.

You may not need a MPH speedo, my Fulvia doesn't have one, for the headlamps you may be able to adjust them so not dazzle oncoming traffic for the MOT.

Needing an MPH speedo is not a thing. I've run plenty of cars with a KPH speedo. However I do have MPH speedos, not turbo but you may be able to just swap in the speedo bit to your instrument cluster, and likely RHD headlights. I'll message you.

Hi Neil, many thanks for the advice. I do have a registration document from the Netherlands and some paperwork from Italy but I will keep the club in mind if those documents aren't accepted

I've checked the wording on the RHD test and it does say that the headlamps can't have deflectors to pass the test - they need to be the correct beam pattern for RHD. Either way, I'd like a set of correct headlamps if I can find them  :)

Hi TurboJim
I may have a Turbo instrument cluster from a UK car and possibly one RHD headlamp. I will check as I think there is a Turbo gearbox as well.

Hi Jim

You need to do a NOVA if you haven't already, and you may/will have to have an agent to interface with the UK tax authorities.

Its not the winning but taking part! or is it taking apart?

Haven't done the NOVA yet but I will be doing that this week.  Do you have any recommendations for a suitable agent?

Thanks, Jim

You'll be looking a long time for an unbroken choke lever. Do you have the bits or is it completely missing?

It's been bodged back together with a metal hinge so working but just messy.

That seems to be the norm. I keep intending to have a go at one of my snapped ones and try to effect a tidy repair.

I probably have headlights, a lot of other stuff lying around my garage. Drop me a DM or email me on trevor@nyssa.ltd.uk and I’ll see what I can find

Was very tempted to buy that car, but I’ve got my own one that needs a little recommissioning and I figured I’d be better off doing that rather than having yet another car I need to find space for 🫢
