Next there is indeed as the guy suggested a drop down box that doesn't contain Lancia as an option so at the bottom of the list you just click "other" which allows a spacebar to type the make in

Then you enter the model etc etc, year and so on.
Eventually you create a record of the vehicle which enables an MOT to be done.
I'm sure a fresh guy with experience or time will be ok with it

Fantastic, that's exactly what I was looking for. Many thanks!

MOT day today - got all the details set up on the computer, although the tester insisted in putting it in as an "Alfa Lancia Y10 Turbo" as that's what the Dutch registration document says.

Failed on one brake light bulb (was working yesterday!) and headlamp alignment. So tinkered around with it in the car park for half an hour and it passed at the second time of asking  8)

Just need to start the process of registering it with the DVLA now...

Also on the way back I was giving it some beans and there was a pop and the boost gauge went to zero. Car still seems to be driving ok so I'm hoping it's just the pipe to the boost gauge that's popped off ::)

That's a good step forwards, hope the DVLA play ball without any messing about.

Son has just bought an Alfa 156GTA Sportwagen from one of the Japanese import companies, they reckon the DVLA take 4-6 weeks to register a car (they probably sell loads, have approx. 300 cars in stock at any one time) and if they chase them up, they reckon they get put to the back of the queue - or at least when they’ve chased up progress the process has taken longer 😵‍💫🤔

So hopefully this will be a smooth process, but that’s the lead time dealers are quoting - son is only 2,5 weeks into his wait

As an old civil servant I doubt they'd put you to the back of the queue just because you chased them. They'll have response times being monitored on everything for management statistics. It seems more likely they someone had to chase them because there's a glitch in the process which is why there was a delay in the first place and chasing them doesn't do anything to solve the glitch.

It did seem a strange story, on the one hand the volume of requests they must put through makes you thankful we’re not in the days of local offices

On the other hand, maybe the sellers want to discourage their customers chasing them every few days🤔

Whichever, currently only 2.5 weeks into the process. Frustrated that we can’t check the MOT status online when it will be done on a VIN number - not that we remembered to take note of the VIN number 😵‍💫
