D24 'Replica' for sale
« on: 17 August, 2011, 05:32:36 PM »
This might interest someone, a D24 look-a-like constructed using Flaminia mechanicals. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C246019
It is described as a replica, but having seen it at a Lancia Club France rally I don't think you could call it that as the proportions are not quite right. Interesting none-the-less.

That is stunning, how true it is to an original I simply would not know, but it is a marvellous looking beast. Not quite what I have in mind for my next venture into the market but very interesting all the same.

My absolute favourite car....but only if it is either 100% real or a 'perfect' replica. I dont have a problem with replicas (I have a Proteus C Type which is a fine car and many of the plethora of Porsche 911RS replicas are very worthwhile) as they allow mere mortals on normal budgets to experience wonderful driving. But for me they have to be very very close to the real thing and certainly 100% accurate mechanically for them to work.
Presumably this car is made from one of the extra (anybody know how many extra?) bodies which were made from the bucks at the same time as the Jim Stokes cars were built.

I was looking through an issue of The Journal, Spring 1982, No 65. And on page 13 is a few photos of a very similar car (rhd). From an event called Italia '81.
Lotto win, and I'd seek out and buy a D24, replica notwithstanding. There was one for sale a few years back, article in an issue of 'Classic and Sportscar.

I'd rather "my" B20 back...

Money no object I have to confess I'd stray and it would be a Maserati 4CL but only once the B20 was in the garage, an SIII B20 remains my "ultimate".

If the SIII B20 went racing then for every day use an S1 B20 and an oyster card and leave it at that...
