At first glance a Lambda, with balloon.

At second glance, not so sure!

Is it really a Lambda? What could it be?

(Found yesterday at Epoqu'Auto, in Lyon)

Yes! Also a very big car!

Bu certainly italian.

My first idea: early Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8

Another possibility, prompted by an article in this month's Viva Lancia:

a late Lancia Trikappa
(there is a similar car in a 1922 Trikappa advertisement, reproduced on page 30 of "La favolosa Lancia")

The relatively short bonnet might hide a big V8 better than an inline 8.

I would say the rear axle is too far back for a chassis-less car too. It must be something with a chassis frame but the style is so similar to a Lambda Balloon.

The dates of the first three photos are wrong. The first and second photos are of an earlier car and the third is an 8th series, which was later. Strange door handles, too.

Looking at the shape and depth of the rad, it looks like Dilambda, also the shape of the headlamps makes me think the same.

Correct Roger, Dilambda. See page 52 LANCIA by Michael Frostick were the caption reads "Murphy looking duller than usual on its all too familiar background."

Actually, I think it is a VIIth with the slightly lower radiator and the thicker headlight rims.

Count the louvres. I make it ten, which makes it an 8th. series car - or possibly 9th.

Just been out to study my cars and I concede you point John, also the radiator corner is above the midline of the headlight which makes it an VIIIth - but the headlights are like those on my VIIth!  Anyway, must be 1928+
