Engine mountings
« on: 22 August, 2022, 05:10:56 PM »
This is an alert and also a request for help.
I was cleaning up my driver's side mounting to bolt it back onto the block when I spotted it was cracked.
There are two types, malleable iron and steel fabrication.
I have one of each on my car but the one that is quite comprehensively cracked is fabricated from two pieces of pressed 2.5mm sheet spot welded together. It is an original item stamped Lancia.
I attach some pictures to illustrate the problem which would not be easily seen without a specific inspection, particularly under paint and dirt.
The crack on the back was difficult to see with the naked eye.
I can repair it but I would prefer another if anyone has one available, as far as I can determine they are not handed apart from the bell crank mounting for the throttle so a LH or RH one of either construction would be most welcome. The bell crank mounting can easily be attached.
Hope yours are all OK.

Update: Thanks James but I think I have it sorted.
I bought a scrap engine last year that had probably been in an accident as both engine mounting appeared to be bent and the drivers side had pulled a chunk out of the water jacket. Upon another examination this morning the bolt and spring assembly on the NS mounting were well bent but the mounting itself seems to be OK.
I am just cleaning it up, if I am still in trouble I will get back to you.
Thanks.
