Springs for B20 Exhaust System
« on: 07 February, 2024, 06:20:53 PM »
I am installing a new exhaust system in my 1957 B20 GTS.  It is the originail equipment version of the exhaust with two silencers on each side (the car currently has an aftermarket exhaust with a single silencer on each side).  The new exhaust came with eight  springs.  They are identicall in size.  Four of them are "hard" springs (heavier guage) and four tof them are "soft" springs.  Are the two types of springs correct and, if so, how they are fitted to the car?  Thanks.

I happened to be lying underneath my car today so see attached photo's. The springs all look the same to me. They are attached to rubber 'cotton reels' on the body. First photo is the rearmost one. My car is a series 3 but I expect that they are much the same. Hope this helps.

Thanks Tim.  Does your exhaust system have one silencer per side or two?
