Conversion of Augusta Metron clock to battery power

The Metron clock on my Augusta has failed, irreparably according an expert clock repairer. Has anyone found or can recommend a means of  converting it to battery power. It is 56mm diameter on the rim and 52mm across the body.

My clock was missing when I bought the car and John Millham told me that they are poor quality so if you bought a working example, apart from being expensive it probably wouldn't last anyway. I settled for a broken one to fill the hole. I have looked at the problem.
Clock mechanisms are available for £2 to £3 for kids to build their own clocks. The cases are too large to fit inside the existing clock body but only because they incorporate the battery holder. I haven't tried it yet, (I still have an engine and other things in bits so not a priority) but I think it is quite feasible to separate the mechanism and use a separate battery holder. From previous experience a separate battery holder on the end of a few inches of wire makes battery changing much easier anyway.
Would be interested in any progress.

had mine repaired by a really good jeweler in wootten bassett , they said it was poor quality but repaired it and been fine since, just sent him another for the astura and an ODA belna clock for repair, will let you know how i get on , my dad did copy faces to convert smiths 8 day clocks to metron lookalikes , have one in his old car as not had time to fit the metron, i can't remember but i think he may have put it in the news letter at somepoint

I have some electric clocks here, I think they are 12 volt but I might have 6 Volt coils as well.

Found and ordered a battery operated conversion unit which looks to be the right size to fit directly and runs on a replaceable Li battery within the casing. Worth a punt for under £12.
