New Member - Hello

Good afternoon!

I just wanted to introduce myself as a new member and, as of this week, the new custodian of 1935 Belna registration JSJ241, which I gather is well known to members in this forum from its previous owner Daniel.

It is my first time owning a Lancia (my other ride is a 1930 Austin 7 Brooklands Special) and I’m looking forward to learning more about it and enjoying driving her with my family and 3 boys.

I must confess I have a lot of questions already, so please be patient with me if I ask any silly questions!!!

I live in Surrey near Guildford, are there any other owners / members nearby?

Hello and welcome. There are quite a few Lancia people within a 10 mile radius of Guildford and at least one of them is a long term Augusta owner (Dale Hicks) and several I know have Aprilias and Appias, Aurelias etc.

It's worth posting your questions here as well as searching the forum for earlier discussions of course.

Come to Brooklands this Saturday as see Dale and his Augusta at the Italian Car Day, alternatively Surrey members meet at the Surrey Oaks in Newdigate on the second Thursday every month from around 7.30.

Also ex Brin Edwards and before that Monsieur Persil in France when it was two tone Grey.

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome. I must confess I really like the two-tone grey-black colour scheme. I’m guessing it was repainted to its current blue scheme sometime in Brin’s ownership.

It would be great to meet you all. I’ll see if I can get a ‘pass’ to visit Brooklands on Saturday but if not I will certainly come to one of the Thursday meets as soon as possible.

Sadly since posting my first message, I’ve discovered a suspected blown head gasket as there is a lot of brown, oily emulsification in the radiator after my very first drive!  :-\ So the car is going straight back into the workshop. From reading old posts on the Forum I gather this isn’t uncommon with this particular engine.

Since 2012, there is an Augusta Newsletter existing, started by the late Morris Parry and now edited by Chris Hopkins of LMC. I am sure you will be interested to get the Newsletter and all the back issues. Please mail to Chris Hopkins: eastbury.lancia@gmail.com

Many thanks indeed. You've answered my first question already!! I'll get in touch with Chris.

I've also been browsing the chat history in this Forum which seems to be a goldmine of information for someone like me.

I'm still getting used to how to post on a Forum and just realised that I'm forever going to be known as MPP37!!!! Feel free to call me Marcus.
