The very nice photograph of the #26 car in Frankxhv773t’s post is definitely the Maglioli/Andersson/Baghetti factory Fulvia Sport which was a DNF (did not finish) in the 1968 Daytona 24 Hour race. What is the source of that photograph?
Lancia Fulvias raced in the annual Daytona 24 Hour race in 1968 (2 factory cars, both retired); 1969 (2 factory cars and a private entry), 1970 (1 private entry) and 1971 (2 private entries). In December 1969 a Lancia, I presume it was a Fulvia, ran in the Sports Car Club of America’s “American Road Race of Champions” which was held at Daytona that year. It was a DNF. As best I have determined, that is the extent of Fulvias racing at Daytona.
The designations of the individual cars in period entry lists, results and programs can be quite confusing and inaccurate in terms of Fulvia models. A case in point is the 1969 Sebring 12 Hour race where, fortunately, there are easily identifiable photographs of the factory entries. The printed event entry list for that race has the Lancia factory entries as #65 a “Lancia Fulvia, 1600” and #66 “Lancia Fulvia Zagato, 1600.” MotorSport magazine and other sources listed the results for the race as car #65 “Lancia Fulvia HF Zagato” and #66 “Lancia Fulvia HF Zagato”. Fortunately photos of the Daytona cars exist to show # 65 was a Sport and #66 was a Fulvia Coupe HF.
If anyone can provide further information (driver histories, individual car histories/specifications, photographs, etc.) on Lancia Fulvias racing in the States, I would be pleased to hear from you.
