Whilst I'm not familiar with the current LB Cars price structure they are more expensive to buy as Craig is only making turn key cars these days. Hawk Cars don't offer this service so there is a much lower cost upfront from Gerry for the base kit & components. You provide the labour.
I can't comment on Craigs waiting list time but being involved heavily with Hawk Cars I can tell you that Gerry currently has 10 chassis in stock that are all allocated and built to customer specifications. That's over a year of work for us. There are a number of other customers who have paid a deposit and we're in the process of having their chassis made. Once we reach the end of deposit paid customers we will be asking those who have expressed an interest for a deposit for their kit so we can order the chassis and this will be done on strictly date order. The only time we deviate from this would happen if a customer can't complete their purchase in which case the chassis, if built, is offered to the next suitable customer on the waiting list and we refund the original customer's deposit. Sometimes this means a customer at the end of the waiting list will jump the queue and this MAY happen with one chassis we have in stock at the moment where we are struggling to collect payment. In this case it's a LHD chassis with no engine mounts at all as the customer wants to fit an engine that's not on our options list.
The best place to hear about kits for sale on the Stratos Enthusiasts Club website but there's no average car as such! Each vehicle has to be assessed on it's own merits and how well it fits your needs and budget! Can you live with right or let hand drive? Which of the various body styles do you want? Paint scheme? Drivetrain? The options are endless but the supply of cars is very limited. If you've spent 3 or more years building the car the chances are you don't want to sell it. Then there's the competition when one does come up for sale, it's being chased by a small pool of buyers but cars rarely remain on the market for long.
If you've got any questions perhaps it's better to drop me a private message/email rather than discuss on a public forum?
