1970 Lancia Flavia 2000 Coupe - ignition key switch
« on: 13 July, 2025, 04:24:42 PM »
Hi,

Does anyone know how to remove the key barrel from the ignition switch?  I snapped a key in mine, but took the unit off the steering lock (tricky) and removed the broken key.  It seems that I may have dislodged a tooth in the barrel and the switch is sometimes difficult to turn the off - which is worrying as the engine is running!

In hope.

Mark

I might be a bit late to help you but nevertheless..
There are two (I think) small recessed allen screws in the body of the switch/steering lock assembly. They may be hidden under the paint.
Loosen these off and the barrel will come out.
Refitting the barrel assembly is tricky, at least it was on my late model Flavia 2000 which has a button that needs to be pressed to turn the ignition off.
As I recall the key switch had to be in the 'accessory' position to enable it to be pushed back into the lock assembly.
Brian.
