Aurelia B12 horn
« on: 15 July, 2025, 06:06:39 PM »
Noting only one post about Aurelia horns, and not manufactured by the expected maker  M Marelli. I decided to do a quick check, hooked up to a battery, one worked, 2nd didn't, even after a few taps of the hammer ( see small pile of rust!)!

Majestically named as "Klaxon Jericho", and made in France to boot.

Anyone shed any light on why not as expected maker and likely cause of a failure to "parp!

According to Paul Mayo's Workshop Manual (compiling factory data), a pair of Klaxon Jericho 4 (one “sol” and one "la") were fitted to B12 after 1597 and B12S after 1304 (and all B20s 4-6 series). See image below.

Chances are you can get the silent one working if you remove the domed cover and clean/adjust the points found within (assuming they are constructed like the Sparton / Marelli ones that I've always found to respond to that type of treatment).

Thanks for  that William, as you can see from pics, not a pretty sight on removing dome cover. The central nut was playing hard to get, so used a vice and long handled spanner.

The part that appeared to me to be making contact with a fixed point,( almost on a trembler style arm,) was dually rubbed down with wire wool  also the  fixed point, correct William?

Will reassemble and test in a few days.

A youtuber has restored what I think is the same model - might be a useful reference for you Frank.

Fabulous restoration of a decidedly more complex item than I imagined.

As stated, after many hours work it looks spectacular!

Thanks William
