Aurelia brake linings
« on: 28 August, 2025, 01:47:47 PM »
I got these as part of a job lot (doubtless many years old) does the maker ring a bell, how can I tell if they contain asbestos!?

Look suitable for the B12?

As it turns out these are the wrong size, much narrower plus rivet holes in wrong place too, I'll put up dimensions on this thread, perhaps of some use to a member

I'll take shoes to local brake shop, thickness of lining that works best?

take the drums with you to the shop Frank, they will know what thickness to use best.

Frank, for optimum results it is best to turn down the new linings to the exact diameter of the drum with a dressing tool such as the dunlop tool.  A good running in is then very quickly achieved.

Thanks Koen, will proceed with caution and due diligence

I have Paul Mayos notes for extra guidance.

I've measured them, 280mm long, 60mm wide, 63mm between rivet centres.

Again they have an Aurelia label , do these sizes fit any of the Aurelia range?

There are notes on this page about lining widths. Looks like the early cars were 60mm and later 70mm (apart from the rear of late B20s which were 65mm).
