Fulvia Owners Notes 3: Maintenance and Tuning
« on: Today at 01:16:24 PM »
Dear Fellow Fulvia-enthusiasts,

Norm Thomas and I have now completed the third, and final, volume in our Owners Notes series: https://tinyurl.com/Fulvia-Notes-Maintenance2026

Note 3 deals with routine Maintenance and Tuning of the Fulvia and has been largely based on personal experience with an S2 1600 HF coupe over a period of 40 years.  In that time its mileage has increased from 83,000 to around 220,0000 miles.

The tasks covered are those listed as regular items in the Fulvia Owners Instruction Book, with a few digressions into modern choices of oils & tyres, as well as the chemistry involved in combustion.  While Owners Note 3 is aimed at new Fulvia owners who have relatively little previous experience of cars of this generation, the final section describes a tuning method which has worked for me, a novice tuner, who, in 2026, finally plucked up the courage to set the valve clearances and tune the carburettors for the first time. At 98 pages, this is not a concise guide but we hope it will be interesting and informative for all!

While writing Note 3, we also took the opportunity to improve Note 1: Electrical Systems and Note 2: Restoration, which now have numbered Pages, Index and Figures.  Links to download all three 2026 Notes can be found on the attached flier. As before, all Notes are free to download - we simply ask that you consider making a donation to the UK charity listed on page 2 (or an equivalent one in your home country), which offers support to improve mental health and reduce suicides in young people.

Thanks to Paul Leclercq, Andrea Nistri, Brian Hilton and Tim Heath who provided guidance on the new Note and have enabled us to remove most of our errors and misconceptions.  Those that remain are entirely our responsibility.
