Alternative headlights
« on: 19 September, 2014, 11:01:46 PM »

A friend has recently picked up a project Integrale (not sure but I think a 16v) and is rather shocked by the rarity and price of the headlights.  Is there an alternative to the originals?

Thats only the start ! When I had my Grale everything seemed to cost the earth  including headlights. I got a couple of the larger lamps for the 16v off a fiat ritmo or strada as its known in the uk. The fiat ítem was cheaper at the time but we have moved along a couple of years now and  they must be rare enough now. Thanks. David :)

Alternatives were ( I believe ) off old 3 series BMWs or Mk1 Golfs. But everything that is unique to an integrale is expensive. Everything on a Delta that fits and integrale is also expensive.

I have fitted Golf headlights for the large (outer) pair on my 8v 'grale.
They are marginally bigger and required fabrication of mounting brackets etc but they look fine and are not noticably different from the standard units.
It has certainly been near impossible to source the original units for some years now.
I will try to post a photo if anyone is interested.

I'd love to see some photos.

The Strada lights are just as rare and expensive...

Just discovered  the system doesn't like pictures without some text!

Keen-eyed among you will probably notice the front bumper is pre-integrale. I do have the correct one now and the correct driving lamps (the ones filling the holes at the moment are from a garden tractor!) and a straight bonnet so hopefully will get around to getting them fitted soon!!  It won't make her any more usable 'tho!
