Bosch starter/dynamo
« on: 17 November, 2014, 08:57:33 PM »
Can anyone help with the following ? I acquired a starter motor and 2 dynamos amongst a cache of spares I bought recently. The vendor suggested they were Lambda, but there is some confusion ......

Part numbers taken from the casings:

Starter ref  BOSCH BNE 2/12 RS 4 (the S could be an 8)
Dynamo ref Robert Bosch AG RK 100/12 700 S12
Later dynamo BOSCH LJ/GK 300/12 1400 R1

Thanks

Not Lambda, but they have some similar parts in them as the Lambda starters. Dynamo nothing like Lambda, which has the magneto on the end of it, up to the 9th. series.

Hi Simon,

The early 2 are not Lambda but, wait for it, DILAMBDA  :o :) :) :)

Dilambda Manual:  Starter.   Bosch  BNE 2/12

                              Dynamo.  Bosch  RK100/12 700

Photo is of Modestine's starter motor number but although I can't get at the dynamo number without removing the unit it looks identical to the one you have. No numbers visible on Elaine Moore's Dilambda.

Power of the Forum  - Thanks Robin.

Someone told me that the later one was from a 1950's OPEL , so your news is much more interesting !

Starter motor and dynamo arrived yesterday and are indeed Dilambda the model numbers matching perfectly.

Modestine's starter motor has been a bit unreliable lately, a tiny metal arm in the solenoid having worn and not always making contact. The pinion is also badly worn, see photos. So, bench tested the 'new' one, fitted it and hey presto, perfect! Result!

What a find! Can't thank Simon enough for rescuing them and posting on the Forum. In 13 years of Dilambda ownership spares have very rarely turned up. An unused head gasket on Ebay, a radiator cap courtesy of Kord Beddig, an unused water pump body S1 and now on Elaine Moore's car, 4 wheel rims S1 and now with Gerhard Lansing and an engine block which unfortunately for me was more than I could afford at the time. He's probably still got it!

How much poorer we would be without the Forum.  :) :)

Robin.
