We took the Cabrio to the Lancia Club France annual rally this weekend and she went really well. Attracted quite a lot of attention !

Slightly rattley tappets and a funny ching-ching from underneath, otherwise all OK and rides very well with lovely supple, quiet suspension

The ching-ching was quickly identified and remedied - it was the handbrake cable that had popped out of its guide and was touching the (aluminium) propshaft couplings.

Drilled a hole in the guide and fitted a split pin - so should stop the problem ..... but not something that I would have picked up had I still had the original fibre couplings, then it may not have mattered either !

Fantastic Simon!  I think a 'new' car always takes some getting used to.  the first few 100 km's you are very attentive to everything that might come loose or go wrong, and every 'new' noise triggers you.  I remember when driving the Lambda to italy (after only 600 test km's), on the first day,  al of a sudden there was a quite loud humming noise, while doing 90km's/hr.  Thinking the trip was already over before it had begun in earnest, I stopped the car.  The noise stayed, so it was not in the driveline.  Also after killing the engine it stayed. (which was a great relief).  And then (only then...) it came to me: it was the horn...  Turned out for some reason the metal wired sensor 'cable' of the period temp gauge I installed touched the wire of the horn where it exited the steering box...and the trip was continued....but it was a frightening moment!

That looks lovely Simon. Great colour combination, I especially like the wheels, nice and discreet, not in your face like a bright cream would be.

I think "Attracted quite a lot of attention" is somewhat of an understatement.

Via another thread William Corke put me onto a FB group for the Ardea. Very surprisingly there were several delightful photos of a very early Aprilia Cabrio, just like mine ..... the person posting the pictures remembered his parent's car as an Ardea

I had a nice exchange with him, so I'm sure he won't mind me reproducing the photos here. Unfortunately he doesn't have any others
