Tank had a quick rinse with petrol and the plug put back in ...fuel line at the other end connected so I spun it over on the key to see if it would draw up some petrol into the inline fuel filter I fitted...it did! so I gave it a longer spin over and we got some bangs and pops. I thought a check of the spark was in order and it was a sickly yellow not a nice white one so will check the points next.

I have just received a box of indicator and brake lights from Chris Gawne and my eagle eye had spotted some festoon mounting lamp holders minus their lenses so I got a little farther with rebuilding the number plate lights as the originals are in very poor shape with the internal steel plate in one completly shot. So a quick trace round a piece of scrap aluminium plate and a bit of drilling and cutting Ta Dah! Bit more to do but I now have 2 newish bulb holders to fit into the number plate light castings. The badly corroded plate can be seen in the first picture as well as the seized solid cable connection. I just need to find some perspex or similar to make a lenses for each lamp. Typical Lancia the oblong hole in the middle of the plate matches up with a similar hole in the boot lid allowing I expect light to illuminate the boot when the side lights etc are on can't wait  :) :) :)
The second picture shows the bulb holder salvaged from the Chris Gawne hoard.

I might look into running a separate earth for these lamps as this will ensure a better performance rather than relying on the connection via the boot lid hinges. Also a more weather proof sealing for the lamps as I am guessing they would be a major water ingress spot for the boot when the seals are a bit tired (mine were stuck on with what looks like tar!)

Still a fair bit of wiring to do before the number plate lights are finished plus what to do about the non-existent chrome???

The piccy shows a mock up with the minivan lenses stuck on with bluetack...problem is I will have to cut the wing to get this light fitting to fit.

Another idea would be two separate lights like this...Any comments on this would be most gratefully received.

I think the minivan units work well. My car has replacement units which I'm not entirely happy with, and having looked at the alternatives available I decided the mini ones were probably the best solution, but decided to stick with what I had after seeing the prices they fetched! For me the individual lamps you show look too messy.
